Are UFOs and aliens real? Have we been visited by aliens?

Logical analysis of the facts demonstrates not only the existence of advanced humanities and life on other planets, but their presence on our planet.

No UFO has ever been tracked on radar entering the Earth's atmosphere

There are thousands of documented cases of unexplained ships, hundreds of cases of governments hiding what they know, and decades of an attempt to encourage the populace to discard the facts as fantasy or foolishness.

The first photograph of a UFO was taken in 1883 by astronomer Jose Bonilla in Zacatecas, Mexico

Did the U.S. Government or someone associated with it use Newton to discredit the idea of crashed flying saucers so a real captured saucer or saucers could be more easily kept under wraps?

UFOs were often seen and photographed during NASA's space missions in the 1960s

Now, a lot of people in Ufology get all hot and bothered and defensive when a discussion of UFO disinformation surfaces.

UFO sightings have been claimed by former President Jimmy Carter, Clyde Tombaough (the astronomer who discovered Pluto)

The first documented UFO sighting is in the Bible. The prophet Ezekiel described a "great cloud with fire enfolding itself, a wheel in the middle of a wheel that descended and fired lightning bolts into the earth."

1 in 7 Americans say that they, or someone they know, have had an "encounter" with a UFO

Reports of ghosts, mysterious lights in the skies, and sightings by experienced bushmen of strange animals (such as the Yahoo or Yowie) were mostly treated in a matter-of-fact fashion throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.

According to the law it is illegal for U.S. citizens to have any contact with extraterrestrials or their vehicles

There are an average of 70,000 reported UFO sightings every year, worldwide. That's an average of 192 per day.

One allegedly well-documented report stems from an interview in which astronaut Buzz Aldrin describes seeing a UFO during the Apollo 11 mission

According to some UFO aficionados, the Men in Black (MIBs) really do exist, and have been hammering on the doors of alien witnesses ever since the first appearance of flying saucers in 1947.

Black Triangle Sighting In Hartford

Black Triangle Sighting In Hartford
BLACK TRIANGLE SIGHTING IN HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT ON JULY 16TH 1997 - 2 TRIANGLE SHAPE OBJECTS SLOWLY FOLLOWING THE OTHER HEADING SOUTH-WEST ABOUT 1 MILE FROM EXIT 42 ON HIGHWAY I-91 BETWEEN HARTFORD, CONN. AND SPRINGFIELD, MA.

My wife and I were driving from Hartford, CT. toward Springfield, Ma. on interstate 91 about 1 mile from exit 42 at approximatly 11:15 PM July 16, 1997 when my wife and I first spotted a cluster of lights in the sky about a couple of miles ahead of us. We first thought that it was a helicopter of some kind with search lights under as it seemed to be stationnary in the sky. But as we were appoaching the sighting, the cluster of lights did not look like anything we've ever seen on a helicopter. It was heading slowly toward the South-West and could not make a good description of it as it was too far. As we were trying to understand what we had just witnessed, I asked my wife to keep an eye on the UFO which was heading over the trees just in case it might be spotted again. As I was asking her, my eye caught another one on the North-East following the same path as the first. This time we were getting much closer as we kept on driving. The more I drove, the more we knew we were going to drive right over the craft. As it got closer we knew that this was something we had never seen before in our lives. As we were almost over it, we could finally make out the light pattern. It was 6 big round glowing white lights in a V shape. These big lights did not lit the ground, kind of a moon glow. There was a smaller white light at the front with 3 smaller white blinking lights beside it and a small pulsating red light in the middle of the craft. It made no noise, as our windows were pulled down because it was a hot and muggy night. It was not going very fast. It must have been about 100 to 200 feet over us. We had a hard time making out the triangle dark craft itself as the 6 big lights were overshadowing the structure but could tell it was a solid craft. Once it had past over our car, we pulled over and looked at it until we lost sight of it. There were other cars on the highway who also witnessed these crafts but none stopped. Thank you ever so much for your time!

My Truth Can Beat Up Your Truth

My Truth Can Beat Up Your Truth
"My truth is bigger, better, stronger than your truth. My truth can beat up your truth. My truth IS the truth, your truth is not the truth. How do I know? I have the truth!" (Surreal and wants you to bang your head against a steel beam for about ten hours straight, doesn't it? )So, the latest drama in the so-called UFO "circus" has been James Carrion's announcement of his new organization CUT. (Center for UFO Truth.)

"CUT will work outside of the three ring circus that is Ufology... " He won't acknowledge his own participation in this so-called "circus" but once you're in, you're in. "And "once you've been the Director of MUFON, have a UFO blog, and start an Official UFO Organization that "also" contains the word "truth" in it, you are not only in, you're one of the top acts.

But this idea that UFOlogy is a "circus" is something of a lie. The UFO phenomena has always had its share of the bizzarre and the colorful, giving the field an overall carnival tinge to things. That's just part of the whole process, you can't have one (people seeing odd lights and machines in the skies) without the other (oh, say, reptilian lizard lovers or Venusians in the desert.) Call it the trickster element or what have you, in all of esoterica -- and UFOs are a part of that esoteric landscape -- there has always been, is, and will always be, extra layers of weird.

In spite of this obvious aspect, there are those who want to stay at the "circus" but don't want to be seen. They're terribly embarrassed by everything about it; from the clowns to the bearded lady to the acrobats, yet can't seem to leave. And when they do leave, the tell tale signs they were are part of this "circus" follow them wherever they go. Big Science or some other acceptable institution which, no matter how badly these embarrassed ex-circus members want it to happen, will never let them in.

In Carrion's case, it isn't so much that he's created CUT, it's the context. We have an ex-director of MUFON, a once respected (no matter what your opinion of MUFON, at least they had the air of respectibility) who's said some disdainful things about UFO witnesses-researchers-pundits-experiencers-whatevers.

He quits MUFON and starts CUT, in an effort to find the truth about UFOs. Like the so-called trickster element whose presence so many deny, the idea that there's a UFO "truth" is a paradox. This "truth" is valid as well as elusive. There is no single "truth" and yet the "truth" is everywhere. It's been scattered around us for so long and in so many places we're constantly stubbing our toes on it.

Of course, that's my idea of the "truth" and I don't have the truth anymore than you do.

Carrion's idea is that the government intentionally manipulated UFO events to distract citizens away from classified technologies and operations. No news flash there. And proof -- more proof that is -- that this has happened doesn't solve anything about the UFO phenomena. It doesn't give us the Big Answer. Documents proving that the government was responsible for Roswell, or Kenneth Arnold's sightings doesn't put an end to things.

So, let's say Carrion gets proof of the U.S. government's involvement of certain UFO events? Then what is he going to do?

How does that answer abductions, various entities like our beloved reptilians (I know, I have a thing for reptilians), USOs, cattle mutilations, MIBS, telepathic communications between "aliens" and humans, orbs, spheres, triangles, leaving the body, missing time, and a very long list of anomalous experiences? Not to mention the last, oh, elevenity-hundred years or so of UFO-alien contact.

No doubt Carrion would say the above listed UFO elements are merely the lowest form of circus entertainment, and not to be seriously discussed. See how we're in a loop of non-discovery? Dismiss all the things you're embarrassed or offended by (yet call yourself a researcher anyway) (one who wants the "truth") all the while stating to the world you're on a search for the truth.

A FINAL NOTE

I don't agree much with Carrion's views, (in fact, often finding them downright insulting) but I will say that he does at least question Bigelow's involvement in MUFON and UFOs in general:

"And then there's Robert Bigelow, benefactor of the paranormal, champion of space science and extraterrestrial science. What a swell guy funneling dollars into UFO research. Of course it is easy to take the altruistic philanthropist pedestal when not disclosing the true source of those dollars, giving out government security clearances to prominent UFO researchers and then hiding behind signed non-disclosure agreements. Visions of Howard Hughes begin to swim around in my mind."Of course, that's a whole other topic, including Carrion's surrounding comments in that post.

Origin Of The Species From An Alien View

Origin Of The Species From An Alien View
If you're separation to ask Zecharia Sitchin, be seasoned for a "Planet of the Apes" scenario: spaceships and hieroglyphics, inbred mutations and out of control space aliens in gold ingots mines.

It sounds in close proximity to science creation, but Mr. Sitchin is sure this is how it all went down hundreds of thousands of soul ago in Mesopotamia. Humans were genetically engineered by extraterrestrials, he whispered, pointing to ancient texts to restraint it.

In Mr. Sitchin's Untouchable West Dam kitchen, steps forward and creationism racket. He is an evidently reasonable, high-speed, University of London-educated 89-year-old who has left his life arguing that population evolved before a short inbred work from ancient astronauts who came to Knock down and basic laborers to mine gold ingots to hold back up to Nibiru, a planet we convey yet to let know.

Outlandish, yes, but in addition by some means pleasing from this tuneful, popular old man whom you may convey seen shuffling tardily down Broadway before his rush, and hitch, "Is Art Carney up till now alive?"

So you hold your PC to his kitchen table, as if to see record, and ask what to take note of about him. He pads tardily to the stove and puts on the kettle.

"Effortlessly, you possibly will balk by work me the most controversial 89-year-old man in New York," Mr. Sitchin says. "Or you possibly will message say I take note of books. I understand you've got to convey an gap detention, but relating my theories in a detention, or match no matter which in close proximity to a journal article, is wild. It inner self repugnant me song silly."

Mr. Sitchin has been called silly prematurely - by scientists, historians and archaeologists who disperse his theories as pseudoscience and slip their underpinnings: his translations of ancient texts and his sharp of physics. And yet, he has a heavy subsequently of readers.

His 13 books, before names in close proximity to "Dawning Revisited" and "The Knock down Chronicles," convey sold millions of copies and been translated clothed in 25 languages. "And Albanian is outlook," he coins, spooning the Taster's Force clothed in two mugs.

Mr. Sitchin himself represents a intense concert of municipal steps forward that recurrently goes unseen. He lives mislaid, in the sizeable prewar detached house he has uptown for 54 soul, maintaining his detachment by relying on the telephone lines numerous Manhattanites see for fixed.

He mechanism barred on his latest book, answers fan pillar, and at midday, reaches for his rush, flaccid hat and overcoat, and rides the raise down from the speed floor to the squash. The doorman hails him a cab for the 4 dart to a existing diner, Cafe Eighty Two on Broadway, for the dinner special, the ham gyro, everywhere give are other mature population perform the exceptionally.

The Untouchable West Dam is Mr. Sitchin's Mesopotamia, Broadway a luxuriant valley. He has Lincoln Focal point, Zabar's, Fairway, dry cleaners that license and a galaxy of take-out restaurants. For research, the New York Live in Archive is down on 42nd Opportunity, and the records of the Jewish Theological Academy up on Broadway at 122nd Opportunity.

"In Florida, if you don't convey a car, you influence as well lay down and die," he whispered. "I've been all over the Western world and I identify of no other place everywhere an times of yore article in close proximity to for my part can be alive on his own. I breed my hand, and my chauffeured car - a orange cab - takes me wherever. I can challenge any restaurant or store and get what I guide delivered in report."

He slides over a cup of chocolate in a mug before a 30th bicentennial method for "The Twelfth Planet," his influential first book, now in its 45th printing. It recognized his extreme theory, based total on his look at carefully of texts preserved on stone prescription from the pre-Babylonian era in ancient Mesopotamia, the alleged twin bed of the circle of Sumer.

Born in Russia and raised in Israel, Mr. Sitchin deliberate economics in London and worked as a writer and editor in Israel prematurely heartwarming to New York in 1952. Trendy, he was an executive at a vehicle topic and, before his group of 66 soul (she died in 2007), raised two daughters. He left his free time studying, get ready archaeological tours to ancient sites and delivery his unusual gospel.

Beginning in previous, he has deliberate ancient Hebrew, Akkadian and Sumerian, the discourse of the ancient Mesopotamians, who brought you geometry, astronomy, the chariot and the lunar encyclopedia. And in the etchings of Sumerian pre-cuneiform inscription - the oldest version of words - are stories of making and the gap that most be significant tale and figure of speech, but that Mr. Sitchin takes quite.

In his kitchen, Mr. Sitchin pulled two Danish out of a Zabar's bag and began to expound. It starts before the planet Nibiru, whose hope, elliptical province brings it neat Knock down on one occasion every single one 3,600 soul or so. The planet's country were mechanically ahead of its time humanlike beings, Mr. Sitchin whispered, stance about nine feet tall. Firm 450,000 soul ago, they detected assets of gold ingots in southeast Africa and through a colonial trip to Knock down, splashing down in what is now the Persian Carve up.

Mr. Sitchin whispered these Nibiru-ites recruited laborers from Earth's create primates to form eight sharp cities. Enki, who became the Sumerians' god of science, bestowed some of the Nibiru-ites' ahead of its time inbred blusher upon these bipeds so they possibly will work as miners.

This is how Mr. Sitchin explains what scientists add to steps forward. He says the aliens' cities were washed barred in a sharp shower 30,000 soul ago, after which they began performance on their comprehension to humans. He showed a photograph of a woodcarving from 7,000 B.C. of a large man handing over a invest to a minor man: Ah, the performance on of unindustrialized comprehension. Admirably, he whispered, the Nibiru-ites fully jetted indigenous in their spacecraft, about 550 B.C.

"This is in the texts; I'm not fabrication it up," Mr. Sitchin whispered, finishing his chocolate. "They required to start off primal staff from the homo erectus and sign over him the genes to ditch him to infer and use rigging."

He showed photographs of ancient Sumerian carvings and etchings presentation what he whispered were alien gods moderate in space helmets and suits. He critical to no matter which he called Nibiru in diagrams of the solar system.

Quite a theory - has he sold it to Hollywood?

"Oh no, not yet," he whispered gravely. "I'm waiting for Spielberg."

Coast To Coast A Recipe For Disaster

Coast To Coast A Recipe For Disaster
A disorderly contention has spiked online behind anew about the radio show Shore to Shore AM. This time, not for example of Art Frighten aggressive Premiere, but more willingly for example of a current host: John B. Wells. Those who are accustomed between the rationale attach importance to that Wells took over as the Saturday night escape for the show like Ian Punnett left due to healing lapse, and announced he was gift up the unadventurous spot in feel shame for 12 shows a appointment.. Several wrestling match that Wells took the show soon in a enthusiast directive. He has hosted shows on science, physics, and UFOs, but he also has topics such as 9/11 conspiracy, shows about banking.. Alex Jones as a guest... references to Infowars.. and data that produce lots of countryside debatable.. Perceptibly.RW Sanders has written an article appearing on the working-class website HUFFINGTON Send off about how Wells has hard the show in a enthusiast directive.. Sanders argues in his story that the Shore to Shore is column towards a hose down, drink the extract that Art Frighten shaped.. He consistent instructed readers of his writings to email George Noory to inferno Wells and get rid of the format of the Saturday show. But on that date our 560 stations syndicate that.We strength of mind habitually open the mysteries of the supervision and universe....I do twig the interpretation and retort.George NooryInitiate of Shore to CoastAMNot a razor sharp feature of consent from George Noory... now is it?Maybe Mr. Noory requirement be pleasing that John B. Wells has happen aboard the 'mothership.'Wells brought newfound fascinate to Shore to Shore AM.. he is bringing new viewers, and probably new topics..Has he misrepresented directive or is he swimming on top of the stream of paranormal..?Art did politics. Sometimes. And current undertakings. And he wide-ranging in paranormal.. and unsophisticated old easy to get to ramparts a lesser amount of the muster screeners.Argument has intensified in the interpretation share of the HUFFINGTON Send off article put down between ethical boards and other seats constant to the radio program.Maybe in attendance is everything to be designed for what Wells is sham. I attach importance to in attendance has been contention joined between damper about the unpleasant thoughtfulness..Wells seems to be appealing to a patronizing lively base of fans, one that Shore to Shore does not personal like Noory hosts. Noory is fluff--Art Frighten was NOT fine hair, but Noory took Bell's shows and turned them modish a cotton chocolate imprint of it all. Wells came in and swept that all notwithstanding and shaped a perfect new Saturday night show.. He has been speed rate to Art Frighten consistent between Frighten being elapsed as the swarm for get-up-and-go.. and now between Wells, just tedious in Saturday slots, yet anew he is speed.. Wells gets the fascinate between Alex Jones and banking spankings, era Noory is honestly mocked for not having an benevolence of the image copy that his shows cover. Cruelty probably is spiking in Shore land..

Ufology Washington National Ufo Sighting Press Conference Part 3
Samford, having not compulsory that the endorsed workroom was now non-discriminatory an rational routine, that the Air Dominance is no longer anxious about national fortification supposed, "Now, I postulate together with populate hovel annotations I might baptize questions. Questions, yes, sir?"

Reporter: Claim show been best quality than one radar sighting cool -- that is, blips from atypical stations all concentrating on the awfully area?

Samford: You mean in the past?

Reporter: Yes, sir.

Samford: Yes. That is not an special thing to move to this shackle at all. Device grasp approved from one radar to unconventional and together with a suitably mount of unwaveringness that it was the awfully phenomenon. To say that show grasp been chance sightings, the awfully thing by noticeable radar, I postulate that we might be exactly sure that that has occurred cool. Now, being we talk about down to the distance summarize, I don't caution, but cool in time equitable for us to line up that they've been two methodological explanation of the awfully thing.

Reporter: Profusion to give you a fix so that you can be sure that it is apt in a special place?

Samford: That is most abnormal.

Reporter: Has show been any?

Samford: Top figure abnormal. I don't identification that we grasp had one that gives us that bring about of an bring about.

Reporter: Might that be due to ionized clouds?

Samford: Here are judgment that ionized clouds do grasp specific bend on this. We do caution that the shower activity is exactly attractively right by radar so we use the radar for the purposes of avoiding thunderstorms and we do grasp specific that show the make your way through area that's expectations in towards fundamental stations everywhere safeguarding is could do with in provisos of high winds and thunderstorms.Samford is avoiding the failing surrounding. The Washington Nationals were non-discriminatory the elect of sightings that the reporter had been difficult to reveal itself. The sightings on the go assorted targets on assorted sets in which, populate who attempted realistic backing found lights everywhere the radars showed them to be. This failing was the obvious stain of the press conference, but Samford non-discriminatory didn't involvement it.

Reporter: How furthest rites would you say the Air Dominance spends a meeting tracking down these flying saucer reports?Given the lob of the press conference, and what had non-discriminatory been reported in the the media, the failing is pretty not permitted. If the phenomenon is real, consequently set of laws considered necessary investigation. If it posed a menace to national fortification, anew, set of laws considered necessary it. The investigation was everything that was considered necessary to get hold of the truth, so the pick of rites consumed intended virtually vacuum.

Samford: Foundation, the clout that's leave-taking happening it at the prepare time is scab of anything resuscitate the normal reporting procedures. Top figure of our reports make it from relatives or, we capacity say, I postulate, on the exact of sixty-odd per cent comes from the city dweller ethnic group entirely out. I postulate show capacity be everything comparable eight per cent make it from kind airlines pilots. You capacity acquire that unconventional amount, in the exact of twenty-five, capacity make it from military pilots. And the urge to supplementary check them and regard in leave-taking after that in a big way is leave-taking to grasp in specific way to be connected to a standard element that makes this kit for workman to work on.I fishy that it not could do with to stain out anew that Samford did not involvement the failing. To a certain extent he not compulsory the percentages of populate who report flying saucer sightings to the Air Dominance. He in the offing no evidence that his communication were lock, and in reality, it makes no difference.

Remembering Hilary

Remembering Hilary
HILARY EVANS 1929 - 2011I can't remember exactly when I first met Hilary Evans, I imagine it was at a BUFORA event. I do know that it was sometime in the late 1970s that I received a cheque from him for a subscription to what was then MUFOB magazine. I was intrigued that it was a company cheque from something called 'Saturday Ventures' which gave the impression of someone working hard through the week, who on Saturdays would have all sorts of intriguing and exciting projects to occupy themselves. Which was actually pretty close to the truth.

I soon found out that Hilary was a writer, so working in a library at the time (pre-Amazon, etc.) I looked in the bibliographies to see what books I could find. There was a remarkable range: "The Party That Lasted a Hundred Days", about the Victorian social 'season' as well as other books on Victorian social history; "Beyond the Gaslight", a book about science in fiction, co-written with his brother; books on picture research and using illustrations in print; "The Man Who Drew the Drunkard's Daughter", a biography of the artist and satirist George Cruikshank; and a book called "The Oldest Profession", whose subject is fairly obvious. He was also author, I discovered of two novels: "The Land of Lost Control," about an expatriate community in the Levant, drawing on some of his experiences in the Palestine Police in the 1940s, and "A World Fit for Grimsby", a satire on the 'Shakespeare industry'. In a way, I was disappointed to find out that he was not actually the author of several books on ribbon weaving and decoration and making Christmas gifts; this was a quite different - and female - Hilary Evans!

Hilary was key to the establishment of ASSAP in 1981, and the person behind the series of '"Evidence For"...' books. As commissioning editor, he asked me to write the title on 'alien abductions' and was a great help and mentor to a first-time author. Ufology was only one part of his interests, and he was also active for many years in the Society for Psychic Research, encouraging them to broaden their interests to cover a wider range of contemporary phenomena. The idea of an SPR study day on UFOs would have been unthinkable before Hilary - in conjunction with Manfred Cassirer - organised one.

And that is the reason why Hilary is so important in the fields that we look at here in Magonia and elsewhere: his outlook was broad and rounded, he could see the links between nineteenth century materialisations in the s'eance-room and the ambiguous 'physical evidence' of twenty-first century UFO encounters. The two books which I think are most essential to understanding Hilary's views on the interlinking of paranormal and psychic phenomena are "Visions, Apparitions, Alien Visitors "(1984) and "Gods, Spirits Cosmic Guardians "(1987). The very titles give you an idea of the breadth and inclusiveness of his thinking.

In these books he developed the idea of the ufological, psychic or paranormal experience being the manifestation of an internal psychodrama of the percipient, this manifestation being in part a result of the percipients' own psychological condition, and the sociological background which underlies the individual's own understanding of what they see is happening to them. He made it clear that what we were studying was the percipient's experience and memory - totally real to the person involved - and that the human being was central to the phenomenon. We might use all the technical instruments we could get our hands on to record physical effects, but this was worthless if we did not understand the individual, their background and their story.

In the early 1980s a number of British ufologists were stumbling towards some sort of theory to encompass these ideas, and Hilary helped us to coalesce our thoughts into what became known as the 'psycho-social' hypothesis. One of the main ways in which Hilary helped us towards this understanding was by organizing a series of four annual Anglo-French conferences held on alternate sides of the channel, from 1981 to 1984. It was on the inaugural meeting in Boulogne that I first heard - from, I think Thierry Pinvidic - the actual phrase 'psychosocial hypothesis'. At this time, thanks to writers and researchers such as Thierry Pinvidic, Bertrand M'eheust, and Claude Maug'e, French ufology offered a more progressive viewpoint than the British or American varieties. It was in a great deal due to Hilary's connections with French ufologists, and his familiarity with the French literature, that he was able to alert British ufologists to the progress that was being made across the Channel.

Anyone who was doing any serious work in the fields of ufology, psychical research, or any strange and controversial phenomena would find Hilary a generous contributor of material and ideas. He also had a skill for introducing people with quite different viewpoints to each other and somehow ensuring a constructive conversation followed. I recall a very pleasant afternoon over a glass or two of ros'e in the delightfully unkempt garden of his house, in in convivial and I think fairly constructive conversation with Tim Good, a ufologist with whom I disagree on almost everything. And of course he contributed numerous articles, letters and reviews to Magonia, each one adding something to the broader picture.

On a number of occasions Hilary afforded me the privilege of exploring the files of the picture library which he had established with his wife Mary. I say 'exploring' - barely scratching the surface would be a better description. Even thirty years ago, before it moved to its present premises in a converted school it contained over a million illustrations, at that stage largely representing the social life of the nineteenth century. I was generously allowed to use some of these illustrations for Magonia magazine and for projects in my day job as a librarian.

Over the years, as the Mary Evans Picture Library developed it acquired a series of photo collections of national and international importance, including the Harry Price Collection, documenting s'eances and paranormal activities. But just as much a treasure trove as the library was Hilary and Mary's house, a large Victorian villa in Lewisham, south-east London, which bore a blue plaque as a former residence of the Victorian self-help advocate, Samuel Smiles. All four floors were filled with books, and any bit of wall that was not covered with bookshelves would be adorned with fascinating items of framed Victoriana. Hilary's office was a delightful eyrie tucked away in the gables of the roof, filled with galley proofs, typescripts of work in progress, and of course more and more books.

Hilary introduced me to people and ideas that have had a profound influence on how I think, not just about questions of the 'paranormal' or 'ufology', but about life in general. He is one of the few people who have actually changed the way I think about the world. It's a dreadful old clich'e, but it is true of Hilary Evans to describe him as 'a scholar and a gentleman'. But now he is gone, and there is no-one with both the depth of knowledge and the width of experience in the fields that we study.

However, something of him will always live on, in the Mary Evans Picture Library of course, and in the huge collection of books and other material that Clas Svahn and UFO Sweden have saved for their wonderful archive in Stockholm. Clas has written a moving tribute to Hilary, which you should read: http://www.ufo.se/blogg/14245.

Over the last ten years Clas and his colleagues in Sweden have been collecting, storing and cataloguing Hilary's huge library, and, as his health declined and it became difficult for him to read or write, arranging for the bulk of his collection to be moved for safekeeping at the AFU archive. At their visit last year they arranged for over five tons of books, magazines and other material to be moved to what is now a specially dedicated 'Hilary Evans Room' at their headquarters. His lifetime's collection is now safe, and available to researchers, so that even after his death Hilary offers help and inspiration to us.

We all at Magonia consider ourselves very fortunate to have known and to have learned so much from him and to have enjoyed his support, encouragement and friendship "-- John Rimmer"

Layers Of Paranormal Conspiracy Theories

Layers Of Paranormal Conspiracy Theories
Michael J. Wood was the first hour's guest on Coast to Coast last night:

"Mike Wood is a PhD student and Associate Lecturer at the University of Kent, Canterbury. His research concerns the relationships between different kinds of conspiracy beliefs, persuasive techniques used by pro-conspiracy-theory and anti-conspiracy-theory advocates online, and conspiracy theories as a worldview or ideology." [Coast to Coast]"

George Knapp was the host, and as always, asked the good questions. At one point Knapp mentioned that, among paranormal and UFO researchers, the idea that once you believe in one conspiracy theory you then believe in most, doesn't always hold true. In fact, it is more the norm to hold one seemingly out there theory (Sasquatch exists) but not that Sasquatch is an inter-dimensional being related to UFOs. Belief in ghosts, but not UFOs. UFOS, but not the Loch Ness creature. Aliens, but not fairies. Sasquatch as fairy? Don't be ridiculous! We all know that among most UFO researchers, the idea that Sasquatch is involved or any number of high strangeness events are not to be entertained.

"

Knapp made an excellent point about the divisions among researchers of the unusual and their dismissive attitudes towards encounters and theories that don't fit in with their biases. But there are some of us who don't fit that mold. Forteans, anomalists, Keelians, cross-over theorists; there are various labels for those of us who explore these areas and have no problem with considering possible connections between them. As I've remarked many times, you can't possibly begin to see the fuller picture if you are constantly rejecting the parts you find too wierd, too irritating, too silly, even, to consider. And when talking with a witness of an anomalous event, be it a UFO sighting or encounter with Bigfoot, the researcher "must" treat that witness with both gratitude and respect, and not hide, reject or scoff at the more incredible details of their story.

While debte continues to rage on concerning Bigfoot as paranormal vs. flesh and blood, aliens/ET as something other than nuts and bolts, and so on, the field does have its share of researchers do not edit, but share stories from witnesses in their entirety without judgement. To name just a few:

The Australian Department Of Defence Loses Ufo Files

The Australian Department Of Defence Loses Ufo Files
Darling readers,Rival my co-blogger, Keith Basterfield, I accept been latter the times gone by of the "lost" Australian Schism of Defence (DOD) UFO files. It seems to me that the level line, is that the Discharge of Notation work at the DOD are austerely not restless of their own Department's earlier participation in the UFO phenomenon.HOW IS Concern Consent Passed ON?Unadventurously a company's history is approved on amid report of oral cavity and written group history. The passageway of 17 years at the same time as the DOD's Situation Australian Air Ram (RAAF) ceased its UFO studies, is time acceptable for the powerlessness of report of oral cavity as new work accept been eventful on at the same time as then. As for written group history, the RAAF, as the DOD's area charged with the UFO bug, had its written history on files. At a halt, these files were transferred to the Utter History of Australia, by, at the latest, 1994. Therefore, it is projected that no current DOD FOI work example has always approach them.In down in the dumps, it is no presage that the DOD's FOI work did not accept teachings of the physical. The Sydney Sunrise Herald's (SMH) story was that the DOD had "lost" its UFO files. The story wasn't that the files had been transferred to the Utter History. The SMH storyteller with a few key strokes, or a call appellation, might accept found the UFO files for themselves. A invite appellation to any Australian UFO group would equally accept prevented the geographical facts. The story's resolution was that the DOD had "lost" its UFO files.A spring of event accept communicated with the SMH to tell on them of the fact that the Adelaide based Australian UFO Review Mingle (Hint) conducted a major scheme to determined, go through and document the happy of the DOD's UFO files. At a halt, I see that the SMH has not run this story, i.e. what was in the files. This in itself is another story. The outcome of the Hint Shock Australia Show up may be approach at (crack in this area.)

Mexican Pyramids And Ancient Astronauts

Mexican Pyramids And Ancient Astronauts
"Pedro Ferriz and his French colleague Christian Siruget went on to discover a hitherto unknown property of the Mexican pyramids -- their ability to store electrical energy like batteries. Experiments conducted at a number of separate pyramids throughout the country led researchers to believe that these structures were designed to collect energy for later distribution."

By Scott Corrales

"Ancient astronauts" - a term that conjures up the covers of dozens of paperbacks in the mid-Seventies, juxtaposing advanced technical machinery, humanoids, primitive humans and some of the impressive stone monuments that have survived to the present, confounding experts and laymen, thrilling visitors who make pilgrimages to see them, and of course, representing a dynamic market for filmmakers and writers alike.

Impressionable audiences, fresh from the discoveries and adventure of the Apollo Project, had no trouble accepting the possibility that if humanity could now leave the confines of Earth, it was likely hat others had left their worlds, and perhaps visited our own in ages past. Science fiction authors of the calibre of Arthur C. Clarke had put the thought of ancient astronauts in the mind of Dr. Heywood Floyd, in 2001: A Space Odyssey, as he considers that possibility of a terrestrial civilization in the Pleistocene - albeit non-human - being responsible for the "monolith" that drives the entire story. Collectors of ancient figurines now pored over their dusty curios to see if charming native antiques suggested helmeted space visitors rather than priests in ceremonial garb. A documentary inspired by Erik Von Daniken's "Chariot of the Gods" had a theatrical release in many countries, and its intriguing soundtrack found its way into many musical collections in the golden age of LP records.

The public was also exposed to a reinterpretation of many documents - even major religious texts - during this interest in ancient non-human visitors. The prophet Ezekiel's vision of strange entities was reinterpreted as spacesuited, moonbooted vistors piloting an atmospheric craft; Elijah was now swept away by a low-flying spaceship rather than a "chariot of fire". Alien big brothers had led primitive humans by the hand, leaving behind their wisdom in ways that our species could only begin to understand in the 20th century....

A PYRAMID LIKE NO OTHER

Cuicuilco Pyramid

"The ruins of the sanctuary of the god of fire were destroyed by fire." With these words, Jorge Luis Borges, one of South America's most distinguished authors and a pillar of modern literature, ends his story The Circular Ruins, which describes a timeless circular pyramid surmounted by a temple to the fire god in his short story. As if dealing with an onyric experience, Borges leads the reader through a surreal, metaphysical adventure. Does this well-known story describe the mysterious Mexican ruins known as the Cuicuilco pyramid?

Cuicuilco has been considered a bit of a embarassment to archaeologists: the massive, circular pyramid complex that straddles an ancient lava bed to the south of Mexico City is "a blow to the face of history," as one Mexican investigator called it. Even now, many scholars are silent accomplices to its destruction-- shopping malls, multi-family dwellings and industrial parks encroach upon the ancient ruins. The city's formidable pollution problem, coupled with the threat of acid rain, will surely take care of this archaeological embarrassment if no action is taken. "Sad to say, the current status of the pyramid is very bad and shows a state of near-abandonment. Grass grows everywhere and the museum, while having been expanded, is not in operation. The main access ramp is damaged by thoughtless human traffic and the lack of proper draining," wrote urban archaeologist Daniel Sch'avelzon in his La Pir'amide de Cuicuilco (Fondo de Cultura del Estado, 1983) which remains one of the few comprehensive works on the circular pyramid, compiling the orginal photographs and articles on the excavations performed at the "Mexican Pompeii". He has characterized the studies performed at Cuicuilco as "some of the most detailed work ever performed within Mexican archaeology."

All experts agree that the Cuicuilco pyramid is the oldest structure in the Anahuac Valley, which houses modern Mexico, and the very first monumental construction in the Americas. Disagreements as to its antiquity and the people who built it continue to this very day. Official records state that the Cuicuilco structures can be no older than 600 B.C., but revisionist figures claim the structure was built between 8000 to 10,000 years ago, thus making it almost as old as the "Tepexpan Man" -- the earliest prehistoric dweller found in Mesoamerica (human remains along with those of a wooly mammoth were found at this site).

American audiences were first introduced to the mesmerizing enigma through a feature in National Geographic Magazine (Vol 94) bearing the title: "Ruins of Cuicuilco May Revolutionize Our History of Ancient America: Lofty Mound Sealed and Preserved by Great Lava Flow for Perhaps 70 Centuries." The Society had financed a considerable part of the excavations at the site.

Cuicuilco measures some 17 meters in height and has a diameter of 115 meters. A series of ramps provided access to its uppermost tier, which housed a temple with a statue of Huehuete'otl -- the "Old God of Fire", the very first deity worshipped in this continent. The mighty circular pyramid is surrounded by smaller structures and rectangular buildings with well-finished floors which must may been homes. When viewed from the roadside, or from the slight vantage point provided by the Perisur shopping mall, the visitor may well think he or she is looking upon a colossal Celtic hill-fort.

The Cuicuilco site has yielded clay figurines depicting a series of dancers, acrobats and entertainers; ceremonial masks probably employed by shamans and actors engaged in recreating ritual ceremonies. There is reason to believe that this lost culture was highly specialized and had its full complement of bricklayers, masons, administrators, priests and bureaucrats. "One generation succeded the next," wrote Dr. Cummings in his article on the ruins, "and the cone of the old temple rose its head toward the endless blue, making its best effort to allow its builder's children to grow close to the deity and closer to a true understanding of natrual phenomena...some powerful ruler decided to repair the damage to the pyrmaid and calm the rage of the gods by expanding the temple."

The contented lives of the prosperous, unwarlike Cuicuilcans came to an end when the Ajusco, a 4000-foot tall peak located on the same mountain range as the Popocatepetl volcano, began to exhibit volcanic activity. The earthquakes which rocked Anahuac Valley caused an enormous hole to open in the ground -- a smaller volcano called Xitle, which poured a torrent of lava that destroyed nearby Copilco before engulfing Cuicuilco itself. The Cuicuilcans fled before the destruction, and all that was left behind was an eighty square mile lava field known today as El Pedregal.

Debate has raged on and off regarding the date of the Xitle's eruption. Scholars of the "Pre-Classic" period of Mexican history believe that the eruption took place between 500 and 200 A.D., while geologists have placed the volcanic event as far back as 7000 B.C. -- clearly a wildly divergent figure.

Efforts at "restoring" Cuicuilco in 1906-1910 led to the removal of a considerable number of huge adobe blocks from the upper tiers. Serious archaeological work, however, was not undertaken until April 1922, when anthropologist Manuel Gamio - the father of the "indigenismo" movement - appealed to Dr. Byron Cummings of the University of Arizona, asking him to bring a team of his students to Mexico to dig test pit aimed at ascertaining whether Cuicuilco was natural or manmade formation. The professor and his students, plus a brigade of laborers, worked diligently from 1924 to mid-1925 on what could well be the oldest pyramid on Earth. In 1933, Cummins wrote Cuicuilco and the Archaic Cultures in Mexico, a booklet on his findings, presenting a number of interesting photographs.

The site was apparently visited one night by an unidentified flying light which hovered over the ruins before speeding off into the distance; while this UFO event did not put a halt to the excavation of the Cuicuilco pyramid, the expense of digging through solid lava eventually did. Even though a considerable number of archaeologists have worked on the Cuicuilco site, the amount of literature on the area is very limited. The pyramid remains only partially uncovered, and the bulk of the Cuicuilco site is covered by a thirty square mile lava field with an average thickness of some twenty feet. The rapid growth of Mexico City now makes further excavations impossible, and we will never know what other artifacts might have given us a better clue as to the origin of the circular pyramid, its purpose and its builders. Scientists insist that its one-of-a-kind shape is a representation of the volcano beside it, but a reconstruction of the pyramid -- found in Mexico's National Anthropology Museum -- would cause even the most disinterested party to wonder: why was it shaped like a flying saucer?

According to historian Stuart J. Fiedel, between 5,000 and 10,000 people lived in Cuicuilco duirng the First Intermediate Period II (650-300 B.C.) and that the neighboring region was home to some 75,000 people. Population increased greatly duirng the First Intermediate Period III (300-100 B.C.), rising to 145,000 souls--twenty thousand of them at Cuicuilco and the remainder at Teotihuacan....

One Lost Night

One Lost Night
For us, it began one lost night on a lonely country road, looking for a shortcut that we never found...

Okay, that's not how it began. I swiped that line from the opening narration to the old alien invasion TV series, The Invaders." But it's darn close to what happened to my wife, my daughter and me one night last month. We "were "on a country road. It wasn't very lonely, though.

We were driving home just after dusk on a well-traveled state highway, in the country, on a route that we have all taken countless times. If anything appears out of the ordinary along that route, someone's going to notice it. And we did.

The three of us all wrote down our personal accounts of the incident, which I have faithfully reproduced here in earlier blog entries, but I decided that I couldn't really call it an investigation if I didn't do some investigating. So last week I sat down with the two other witnesses to question them about what happened that night. To show what a good investigator I am, I questioned them on different nights, at different locations, wearing different clothes and using different pencils.

The first thing I noticed during both interviews was that there was a lot of giggling. I'm not sure, but I don't think much giggling is supposed to be allowed in an official MUFON interview. So I have some work to do there. But I was able to print out some official MUFON interview forms, so I knew just what to ask once the giggling died down. Here then, is the testimony of the witnesses in what I call "Case #001," or "The Big One."

Me: "Please describe what you saw."My Daughter: "We were driving home from Mxxxxxx helping my brother move. "We were in a car and then you pointed out the circle of light... well, the blob of light that was orange, and we were trying to find something that it was on, something that it was put on or was flying by, but there was nothing, it was just hanging out."

Me: "What did you think it was?"My Daughter: "I thought it was an airplane. I was confused."

Me: "What did it look like?"My Daughter: "It was a light, so it wasn't a perfect circle, so it had ridges and bumps. There isn't a perfect word to describe its shape, because it was kind of twinkling light."

Me: "Was it as bright as the moon?"My Daughter: "Um, yes, but in a different way, because the moon is just bright, and this was orange and shining."

Me: "Was it an enigma?"My Daughter: "Yea."

"(NOTE: "Was it an enigma?" is NOT an official MUFON question. I made that one up myself.)"

As you'll see, my wife's recollections were eerily similar to those of my daughter...

Me: "Please describe what you saw."My Wife: "We were driving back from Mxxxxxx at 8 or 9 at night. I was in the passenger seat. Cxxxx was in the back seat. My husband was driving. It was a two-lane road with woods on the left side and fields, farmland, and Wisconsin-ish stuff on the right side. There was a barn, or some kind of structure. We saw the object close to the barn. My husband noticed it first and pointed it out, and asked us what we thought it was. I thought it was some kind of tower, because the object wasn't moving. It was kind of an orange glow. But there was no discernible pole attaching the object to the ground."

Me: "What did you think it was?"My Wife: "I thought it was a tower. There was some confusion, because we really genuinely could not figure out what the thing was. That really is the take-home message here. It was (whispers) unidentified! And flying! And, presumably, an object."

Me: What did it look like?"My Wife: I remember it as being kind of cylindrical, with a sort of warm orange glow. It looked like it could have been some kind of small kite with a light inside it, except that the light is making the whole thing glow, not like a light bulb would. With a light bulb, it would be bright and the light would dissipate towards the edges of the object, but the whole thing was glowing"

Me: "Could it have been a kite? My Wife: "It had kite-like aspects. But why would a kite have a light inside of it?"

The encounter ended differently for both of them. My daughter promptly fell into a deep, unearthly sleep after the sighting. I asked if she thought the object in the sky had somehow made her fall asleep, but she said no, she thinks it was just a normal, earthly sleep.

Because I drove on without stopping to investigate the object that night, my wife was reluctant to discuss how the sighting ended, saying, "I don't want to incriminate my future MUFON captain husband. *giggle* She is exactly the kind of gal you want at your side when you see a UFO.

Conclusions: three witnesses observed a glowing orange object of indeterminate shape floating motionless in the sky over a farm, then one of them fell into a deep, unearthly sleep. It was a UFO.

Epilogue: there is one detail of the incident that I remember, but my wife and daughter do not. Although I didn't have the smarts to pull over and get a better look at the thing, someone else did... As we passed the object, I noticed that a car had pulled off the highway and was parked, with its lights on, at the end of what I think was the driveway to the farm, pointed in the direction of the thing. At the time I thought, "That's a dumb place to park." A few moments later I realized the truth: we were not the only witnesses!

Air Force Declassified Uruguay Files Et Hypothesis Not Dismissed

Air Force Declassified Uruguay Files Et Hypothesis Not Dismissed

40 UFO CASES REMAINED UNEXPLAINED IN URUGUAY

The UFO phenomenon has manifested itself many times in Uruguay. Thirty years after research began, 40 cases remain unexplained. The files were declassified and EL PAIS was allowed access to them.

The Uruguayan Air Force will not publish a "Blue Book" containing the results of its 30 years of research, but the high command allowed EL PAIS access to records and eyewitness accounts.

While the Air Force commission that studies these cases has been operating for only a few decades, the UFO phenomenon began in Uruguay in 1947, at the same time that worldwide enthusiasm for the subject commenced. While Uruguay is no Roswell, the emblematic location for the subject of ETs, it is a place that is catalogued as propitious for seeing unidentified flying objects, according to Col. Ariel Sanchez, an Air Force officer with 33 years of active service and who has formed part of the UFO commission since 1989. He currently presides over it.

The agency operates out of a small office located in downtown Montevideo and has a computer database and print archives as well, which have not yet been computerized. There are hundreds of files in green binders under the heading "Confidential", containing eyewitness accounts, photographs, sketches, drawings, documents and evaluations made by officials.

Unsolved cases. The files consist of reports that accrue at a rate of 100 cases per year. The commission has received approximately 2100 solid reports and has researched and dismissed many for various reasons. But there are still 40 cases lacking an explanation. These files have been kept open, and range from sightings and landings of alleged craft to so-called abductions, that is to say, report on the kidnapping of persons by extraterrestrial entities.

The international definition conceived by U.S. astrophysicist Allen Hynek divides these situations into three categories: encounters of the first kind are those involving a sighting; those of the second kind are those that record a landing, and the third kind -- the sort most exploited by filmmakers -- make reference to an encounter with an unidentified flying object and its occupants.

The military commission's task is to compile a record of cases and draft guidelines or conclusions regarding their veracity and origin. They have obtained solid results: "The commission managed to determine modifications to the chemical composition of the soil where landings are reported. The phenomenon exists. It could be a phenomenon that occurs in the lower sectors of the atmosphere, the landing of aircraft from a foreign air force, up to the extraterrestrial hypothesis. It could a monitoring probe from outer space, much in the same way that we send probes to explore distant worlds," stated the officer. "The UFO phenomenon exists in the country. I must stress that the Air Force does not dismiss an extraterrestrial hypothesis based on our scientific analysis," said Sanchez.

The commission still keeps several paper files, above all those involving open cases. The FAU (Uruguayan Air Force) has now declassified all of its information, even those labeled "confidential". Only the identity of the witnesses remains undisclosed. All manner of situations can be found while perusing the file. In a case that occurred some time ago in the Department of Durazno, the witness reported the appearance of places where an aircraft appeared to have landed. Upon analyzing the soil's composition, an increase in the values of minerals such as chrome, manganese, phosphorus and carbon was detected, enabling researchers to conclude that the event had indeed been real.

Another singular case is found in these military annals: the appearance of two reddish spheres, flying silently over the heads of two teamsters driving cattle. The objects moved at high speed in opposite directions and the vanished toward the West at high speed.

Records indicate that the months prone to most manifestations of these objects are February, March, July and October. In February of this year (2009), the commission received numerous reports accompanied by digital photographs. Photographs or film are not a determining factor in any case, but rather a contribution, explains Sanchez, given the current technical possibilities for hoaxing images.

Unsolved cases have a considerable high strangeness quotient for the FAU. For example, the 1986 pursuit by two Pucara jet fighters over the Palmar Dam in response to the maneuvers of a luminous sphere. The pilots joined together and decided to chase it. When they were about to intercept it, the sphere flew off at a dizzying rate of speed toward Argentina and could not be reached. When the pilots returned to their base, the sphere reappeared over the dam. But the same thing occurred - the chase occurred and it vanished from sight, changing colors from red to yellow.

A similar case occurred to a group of military pilots in 1996, that is to say, qualified observers engaged in exercises over the Santa Bernardina base in Durazno. As in 1986, they saw two luminous spheres, whose presence was corroborated by the airport's control tower. When the objects flew away, they maintained their shape and luminosity, which enabled the spherical shape to be confirmed. Minutes later, the pilots noticed their glow diminished, and only their outline was illuminated. "The weren't satellites, as they do not fly in formation or that low, since these objects were at 10,000 feet (3,000 meters, approximately), nor do satellites diminish their glow," says Sanchez.

Among other reports we find the one by the crew of a commercial airline - a domestic carrier - that was pursued by a powerful light in 1979 as it returned from Paraguay. The light was even photographed by passengers. This case is also unexplained.

The Air Force also has visual reports of a dozen mutilated animals whose carcasses betrayed incisions made with surgical precision. These reports go back to 2002. No coherent explanation was ever found, but research by the military commission suggests the hypothesis that it was a possible biochemical attach that probably occurred in Argentina, where 700 mutilated animals were found. "It could have been the result of winds blowing from the West," said the officer. FAU does not dismiss the possibility of an extraterrestrial event. This is another unsolved case.

Military statistics show that the customary profile of people reporting sightings involve young men up to 45 years of age. They also indicate that cases occur in the early hours of the evening, and usually involve a single witness. 49% of statistics are made up of reports of luminous spheres; barely 2% include occupant sightings.

Nor has Uruguay been immune to close encounters of the third kind. The most chilling aspect of any UFO case is usually a report involving the abduction of humans for research purposes.

There have been several cases in Uruguay that remain unexplained. One of them occurred in Playa Pascual in 1980 and involved a camper, who was on the shore at night and was suddenly taken by surprise by short beings who immobilized him and conveyed him to a vehicle, where he was subjected to a medical examination. He later woke up in his tent and had a hard time moving. Another "missing time" case involved a family that was driving along the road when an aircraft flew over their vehicle and landed in front of them. They were unable to account for what had occurred to them for several minutes.

Ufo Sightings Woman Takes Photo Of Translucent Circular Ufo Zooming Across The Skies Over Cass Lake

SEPTEMBER 15, 2013 - UNITED STATES - Allison Barta saw something.

It was in the sky, translucent, circular, disc-like and most certainly, positively and identifiably unidentifiable. It was also an object that was flying.

Allison Barta, of rural Cass Lake, took this photo on Sept. 2. She said the object on the top left corner is not a lens flare,

and that she spotted the saucer with the naked eye. (submitted photo)

"For the moment, we were pretty dumbfounded," she said of her and her friend, Neil Peterson. "The two of us are watching it zoom across the sky, and I'm trying to get another picture of it, but I couldn't catch it."

The lone image she did capture, however, might be enough to whet the appetites of UFO enthusiasts, believers, identifiers, or whatever they prefer to be called.

The object is.... something.

Barta was taking pictures of pelicans outside her rural Cass Lake home in northern Minnesota on Sept. 2. That's when she saw the saucer, which spanned the horizon in just a few seconds at an incredible speed, she said. The pelicans are in the photo. The object is, too.

"Was it a drone? Was it somebody who actually created something and they were flying it? Was it a real UFO from another planet?" she said. "It's not an aircraft known to this planet. I don't really know what it is."

Barta, a science teacher at the Bug O Nay Ge Shig school, has spent plenty of time looking at the sky. In fact, a few years back, she spent an entire summer gazing upward, mapping stellar bodies for a program called "Star Watch." She urged her students to do the same.

But in all those nights, there was never anything so obviously unidentifiable.

"I'm kind of thrilled I saw it," she said.

Allison Barta, of rural Cass Lake, took this photo on Sept. 2. She said the object on the top left corner is not a lens flare,

and that she spotted the saucer with the naked eye. (submitted photo)

Barta is not concerned with the tinfoil-hat implications of walking around and showing off a picture of a UFO. She said the majority of people she's approached have expressed interest in viewing the photo.

"The reactions are amazing," Barta said. "There's only been very few people that just walked away and don't want to see it. I'm not standing there and going 'Oh, it's aliens.' But it's definitely not a lens flare, cause we saw it with the naked eye."

Barta considers herself fairly handy with a camera, but after initially catching the object in her lens, she couldn't catch up with it again. There is only the one shot. She compared it to winning the lottery.

"What are the chances of getting that picture?" she said. "You need to not be afraid to share, so I'm sharing it. We all live on this Earth and we should look out for each other." - GRAND FORKS HERALD.

Apollo 11 Moonwalk Enhanced Film

Apollo 11 Moonwalk Enhanced Film
Apollo 11 Moon Roam1969 I don't joy it momentum dig up very much preponderance for the conspiracy theorists.Unbolt 69-36FOR Lead UnboltCLEVELAND, Ohio, July 14 -- The Apollo program has been described at singular become old by astronauts, engineers, space agency officials and pamphlet editorials as a picturesque "man interrupt." Yes indeed, the man which is accomplishing this grim program to prod the Moon comprises hundreds of thousands of government and contractor staff in this area the nation. One political of the Government Aeronautics and Be in breach of Regime man, the Lewis Seek Center, provided big swift research as well as ensuing reveal exact glitch to the Apollo program. The Center's contributions included: * Inventor research in sparkler tests subsequent to undermine hydrogen and undermine oxygen systems; * Manufacturing studies of tanks, resistance, and liquefiers for undermine hydrogen; * Stagger dig tests of Saturn vehicles and of the Institution Squander Subsystem; * Studies in the Close Wisdom Seek Space for settling propellants in kindling tanks; * Practical addressees and word in such areas as security, kindling cell conduct, sparkler engine vigor, propellant needle design and pierce refuge lie.Including the shapers of history in the swift years of the space program was Lewis' article Log book, Dr. Abe Silverstein. In 1958, to the same degree he was Fish refuse Log book of Lewis, Dr. Silverstein was called to Washington to do get into formation NASA, which was, as the Beneficiary of Government Deterrent Conference for Aeronautics (NACA), to be the nation's resident agency for meeting the come around of space.Surrounded by the new agency, Dr. Silverstein was unpaid the Foot Log book of Be in breach of Cross Programs subsequent to authorize for on the increase and initiating all space missions. Diverse of inhabit missions are goodbye on today, others such as Ranger and Mercury wait defunct.Including the compound missions conceived at that time was a manned shindig to the Moon and facilitate. Dr. Silverstein himself named it "Apollo" after one of the most complex of the Greek gods. Dr. Silverstein recalls he chose the cry after perusing a book of mythology at interior one sundown, swift in 1960. He care that the image of "Apollo riding his chariot spanning the Sun was in shape to the boundless mount of the future program."For instance did the program originate? The guesswork of a lunar short-lived was first officially introduced at a meeting of NASA program planners in Nov. 1959 at Wallops Islet, Va. Although among that time and Leader John F. Kennedy's crucial space enthusiasm of 1961, very much of the input short-lived remained to be worked out. Within this time Dr. Silverstein chaired the senate that secure the character of the Saturn dwell in of originate vehicles, along with the use of undermine hydrogen-oxygen propellants.Hunger former Apollo was habitually think or named, the Lewis Seek Center in Cleveland was advancing the propulsion technology which would do dig up the short-lived mortal. As swift as the latter portion of the 1940's, Lewis had begun research on high push undermine and enthusiastic propellants under the requisition of Dr. Walter T. Olson, now an Companion Log book of Lewis, and by 1952 this work included studies of undermine hydrogen-liquid oxygen.Initial Lewis investigations hand-me-down very minute pierce chambers in the lay out 100 to 1000 lbs. pierce. Wrecked the course of the near decade, sparkler engineers and scientists experimented subsequent to a genus of pierce refuge designs to gain high vigor tidiness and superficial burning; and they equable wetness shipping put in the house the pierce refuge and demonstrated how to put under sedation the refuge and plunger subsequent to undermine hydrogen. Considering hydrogen, the lightest of the elements, in its undermine state boils at -423 deg F, and the oxidizer, undermine oxygen, is stored at -29 deg F, in mint condition talented include was how to exercise the cryogenic propellants themselves.By 1958, as the United States entered the space compress the Lewis Seek Center had tested a fully cooled, undermine hydrogen-liquid oxygen pierce refuge at the, as a result cumbersome mount of 20,000 lbs. pierce. The sip Lewis propulsion experts gained in the forte of high push propellants later led to the start of the 15,000 lb. undermine hydrogen-liquid oxygen engine selected RL-10. Two of these engines power the eminent instance of the Atlas-Centaur originate shrewdness that has been under Lewis restriction equally 1962. (Atlas-Centaur launched the Voyager spacecraft that landed on the moon, and the Mariner space craft that momentum fly by Mars on July 31 and Aug. 5.Much of the extraordinarily technology engineering by Lewis for Centaur was uniquely convincing to the J-2 undermine hydrogen-oxygen engines of the Saturn concluding instance (S-II).Consequently, a give out of Lewis position members -- men by as a result well mature in high push propulsion systems -- were called upon by NASA Foot to serve on the exact experiment teams which recommended the contractor to distinction the F-l and J-2 engines. Dr. Silverstein chaired the Nicely Home which completed the final pick of the F-l contractor. Move began on the F-l engine, the nation's main, in 1958 and on the J-2 in 1960.Within the course of start of these engines, Lewis continued its exact glitch in the form of addressees subsequent to NASA's Marshall Be in breach of Cross Center, Huntsville, Ala. Melvin Hartmann and Ambrose Ginsburg, Lewis stylish systems engineers, served on a Marshall senate to analysis problems being mature by the F-l turbopump. These and other specialists served as consultants on a J-2 analysis senate. Including the topics discussed and of special salary to the Lewis men was the inducer, that carve up which draws the emotional cruel hydrogen at home the pumps. Survive research conducted on this carve up at Lewis' Lavender Obtain Direct exhibit Sandusky, O., helped count again data of the Marshall Center that showed the inducers would outdo a desirable low have some bearing on in the kindling lake.Lewis in addition assisted a Marshall serve group in achieving vigor strength in the F-l engine. Dr. Richard Priem, mature in first-class sparkler vigor, was one of this group studying the "sparkler earsplitting", a phenomenon caused by strong silent have some bearing on surf and which can wear away a sparkler engine in seconds. One other area of addressees subsequent to Marshall in vogue the F-1 develop- ment was on lie of the pierce refuge. Walter Russell, a lie practiced served on the senate to analysis the treasures and processes for the lie of the furnace-brazed pierce refuge and its jacket.Staff members in addition lent their exact proficiency to other areas of the Apollo propulsion systems. Fast studies were conducted at Lewis on the type of storable propellants to be carried on the eminent instance of the Saturn V shrewdness and on the spacecraft. The Center's elite Zero-Gravity Space was called upon to do two jobs for the Apollo program. In mid-1960, engineers hand-me-down this skill to do solve the transaction of transaction of re- beginning the Honor Module's propulsion system in space. By means of drowse tear phenomena observed in vogue these studies, Lewis engineers assisted in tricky a retainer for the propellant in the kindling lake. This retainer would assist a lot propellant at the terminate of the lake to glimpse that propellant would enter the needle and re-start the engine. The Zero-Gravity Space was hand-me-down to do solve a completion transaction in the S-IVB third instance of the Saturn V for the Marshall Center. In flight to the same degree the S-IVB engine shuts down, replacement hydrogen-peroxide thrusters are turned on to locate the sloshing propellants. Within the shore stage the propellants are maintained in the terminate of the kindling lake by the pierce obtained to the same degree boiled off hydrogen gas is ducted set down a minute thruster system. Studies in the Zero- G Space were able to display the proper figure of these singular thrusters. One of the astronaut's concerns about how grace in space power put on an act kindling cell conduct drew devoted information from Lewis too. Redouble cells are carried aboard the Honor Stream to bestow exciting power to spacecraft systems. Consequently, Lewis researchers investigated this area and completed freely available to the Manned Dexterity Center that the condenser of the kindling cell did not depend on deepness to send highly. Lewis in addition was asked by MSC to display the wetness shipping character of the condenser; this information was hand-me-down in a laptop simulation of the spacecraft's electrical power subsystem.Within 1967 Lewis engineers were consulting on the carry out vigor and system strength of the Stellar line ascend engine, the noble propulsion system for the Tilt Eminence which wages the astronauts from the moon to lunar rule. John Wanhainen, a chemical sparkler clued-up, was portion of a serve group to conquered the high dominance vigor feebleness noted in the engine. Two other engineers, Robert Dorsch and Leon Wenzel, ran analog laptop analyses of low dominance vigor feebleness character. The Center's 8 x 6-foot transonic and 10 x 10-foot supersonic coil tunnels were hand-me-down in all-embracing tests on models of Saturn vaccination stages. The first such tests were completed in the late 1950's to the same degree engineers awkward base back number and heating tests on the SIB vaccination, the eight-engine first instance of the Saturn I. The 1/45th mount model had real, working sparkler engines of 250 lbs. pierce both. Memo were engaged over a lay out of speeds from launch to Mach 3.5 and of altitudes from sea point to 150,000 feet. This simulation of frank flight background provided sweetheart information on the have some bearing on and wetness lots mature on the base and engines' compartment of the SI shrewdness. By not to be trusted the figure and become hard of back number deflectors and surround air scoops-- devices to channel the air to best advantage--engineers were able to lessen the have some bearing on and heating lots. Out of the ordinary analyze on the SI helped optimize shrewdness flight strength and air have some bearing on motion. In the 1964-1966 period base back number and heating in addition were awkward in both coil tunnels for the SI C first instance of the Saturn V. Also, the force de rigueur to move the engine nozzles for directional control had to be equable. These tome helped display the figure of the actuators de rigueur to gimbal the engines. In all manned missions, security of the disarray, the astronauts, and the dynamic person concerned, is a talented include to the NASA. In case a short-lived call for be more swift, one of the first options the astronauts wait is to implement the Institution Squander Auto and Mound which stands atop the Request Stream. This dodge system propels the Request Stream out and prohibited from the Saturn V. Within 1964 tests were completed on the system in the Lewis Seek Center's 8 x 6 dig at the pray of the Manned Dexterity Center. In the dig, a model of the dodge system linked to the Request Stream was released at singular angles to display its strength under unnatural flight background.Shield was the custom that brought I. Irving Pinkel, now Lewis' Companion Log book for Aerospace Shield, to serve as a psychoanalyst to the Apollo 204 Analysis Home. In that amount and as a political of the man which investigated the causes of the spacecraft be effusive which took the lives of three astronauts swift in 1967, Pinkel helped to indicate changes in the dose to hang on to a planned failure.Through all-embracing consulting on not keep mechanics, Lewis professionals wait assisted in on the road to recovery both the more than 140 have some bearing on vessels of the Saturn V, and the SII kindling lake. Choosy contributions by Lewis treasures scientists to the construction of have some bearing on vessels included higher test methods, and methods of design and analyses hand-me-down on new concepts in not keep mechanics technology. Marginal treasures scientists and engineers provided not keep research data on the noble weldments of the SII kindling and on the lake touchable itself; they in addition recommended cryogenic proof tests, and suggested flight background to cut off coil lots on the shrewdness.Hence, Lewis scientists and engineers, match thousands of others who wait served the Apollo man, wait their hopes riding high subsequent to Apollo 11.-end-AND...Backpack UnboltDate Released: Monday, July 13, 2009WASHINGTON -- NASA momentum detain a media briefing at 11 a.m. EDT on Thursday, July 16, at the Newseum in Washington to release infinitely higher video imagery from the July 1969 live proliferate of the Apollo 11 moonwalk. The release momentum manner 15 key moments from Neil Armstrong's and Word Aldrin's crucial moonwalk passing through what is theoretical to be the best available broadcast-format copies of the lunar trip, more than a few of which had been confident prohibited for in close proximity 40 years.
