Orbital is developing and qualifying a new launch vehicle called Antares to enable lower-cost COTS launches and the Cygnus cargo module. Antares will be launching from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia - the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport operated by the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority. Orbital plans to launch Antares on its first test flight by the end of this year. Orbital also will launch Cygnus atop an Antares rocket in 2013 for its first demonstration flight to the station. New and unexpected data indicate Voyager 1 has been traveling for about one year through plasma, or ionized gas, present in the space between stars. Voyager is in a transitional region immediately outside the solar bubble, where some effects from our sun are still evident. A report on the analysis of this new data, an effort led by Don Gurnett and the plasma wave science team at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, is published in Thursday's edition of the journal Science.

"Now that we have new, key data, we believe this is mankind's historic leap into interstellar space," said Ed Stone, Voyager project scientist based at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena. "The Voyager team needed time to analyze those observations and make sense of them. But we can now answer the question we've all been asking -- 'Are we there yet?' Yes, we are."

"We literally jumped out of our seats when we saw these oscillations in our data -- they showed us the spacecraft was in an entirely new region, comparable to what was expected in interstellar space, and totally different than in the solar bubble," Gurnett said. "Clearly we had passed through the heliopause, which is the long-hypothesized boundary between the solar plasma and the interstellar plasma."

The new plasma data suggested a timeframe consistent with abrupt, durable changes in the density of energetic particles that were first detected on Aug. 25, 2012. The Voyager team generally accepts this date as the date of interstellar arrival. The charged particle and plasma changes were what would have been expected during a crossing of the heliopause.

"The team's hard work to build durable spacecraft and carefully manage the Voyager spacecraft's limited resources paid off in another first for NASA and humanity," said Suzanne Dodd, Voyager project manager, based at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. "We expect the fields and particles science instruments on Voyager will continue to send back data through at least 2020. We can't wait to see what the Voyager instruments show us next about deep space."

Voyager 1 and its twin, Voyager 2, were launched 16 days apart in 1977. Both spacecraft flew by Jupiter and Saturn. Voyager 2 also flew by Uranus and Neptune. Voyager 2, launched before Voyager 1, is the longest continuously operated spacecraft. It is about 9.5 billion miles (15 billion kilometers) away from our sun.

Voyager mission controllers still talk to or receive data from Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 every day, though the emitted signals are currently very dim, at about 23 watts -- the power of a refrigerator light bulb. By the time the signals get to Earth, they are a fraction of a billion-billionth of a watt. Data from Voyager 1's instruments are transmitted to Earth typically at 160 bits per second, and captured by 34- and 70-meter NASA Deep Space Network stations. Traveling at the speed of light, a signal from Voyager 1 takes about 17 hours to travel to Earth. After the data are transmitted to JPL and processed by the science teams, Voyager data are made publicly available.

Scientists have uncovered fresh evidence that life could exist beyond Earth, with research published showing that comet dust contained traces of a compound vital to human existence.

Researchers probing dust and gas collected from the Wild 2 comet by NASA's Stardust spacecraft in 2004 found traces of the amino acid glycine, lending credence to idea that there is life elsewhere in the universe.

"The discovery of glycine in a comet supports the idea that the fundamental building blocks of life are prevalent in space, and strengthens the argument that life in the universe may be common rather than rare," said Carl Pilcher, one of the space agency's top astrobiologists.

Jamie Elsila, lead author of the report, which was published in the journal Meteoritics and Planetary Science, said the findings also support the idea that the material elements of human life may have come from space.

"Our discovery supports the theory that some of life's ingredients formed in space and were delivered to Earth long ago by meteorite and comet impacts," she said.

The group's final findings confirm suspicions that the amino acid -- which creates the proteins that form the building blocks of life -- were not simply earth-sourced contamination.

"We discovered that the Stardust-returned glycine has an extraterrestrial carbon isotope signature, indicating that it originated on the comet," said Elsila.

Twenty different amino acids are arranged to build the millions of different proteins that make up everything from hair to enzymes, NASA said.

I'd like to mention that it was an almost full moon, a few obvious stars in the sky but the rest was as clear as can be. It was not a plane. It didn't always move in straight path. It made no noise. We still don't know if Earth, as a planet that currently harbors life, is alone in the universe. But scientists are actively searching for clues about other potential habitable worlds outside our solar system.

Astronomers are presenting their latest findings at the American Astronomical Society annual conference in Long Beach, California, this week. The word on the cosmic street is that Earth-sized planets are relatively common and that hundreds of new planet candidates have been identified.

"We have begun to truly map the planets in our galaxy akin to the way that early explorers mapped the Earth," said Sara Seager, professor of planetary science and physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who works with data from the NASA Kepler mission, which aims to identify planets outside of Earth's solar system.

Scientists from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Hawaii at Manoa have estimated that 17% of stars that are like our sun host planets with a diameter of one to two times that of Earth, which orbit close to these stars.

This is based on data from NASA's Kepler mission, which can only detect planets that have a much smaller orbital radius (about 25%) than Earth's. That means that 17% of sun-like stars in the galaxy would have a planet about the size of Earth, or slightly bigger, within the orbit of Mercury.

If we're talking about planets about the size of Earth or a little bigger - that are within Earth-like orbits - that could apply to as many as 50% of all stars in the galaxy, but that doesn't mean these planets could host life.

A planet with a diameter of two to three times that of Earth would generally resemble Uranus and Neptune, according to the scientists. These planets would have a rocky core, hydrogen and helium gases and maybe even water. Near to a star, a rocky planet could have oceans with depths of hundreds of miles.

The Kepler telescope takes repeated images of the constellation Cygnus - specifically, of 150,000 stars. Computer software analyzes those images by looking for dimming of the stars, which might indicate that a planet is passing in front of it during orbit. At least three transits must be observed to be considered the signal of a planet candidate.

"Based on the new Kepler results, it's just breathtaking to realize that some of our very nearest neighboring stars must have Earth-size planets," Seager said.

It is easier for Kepler to detect big planets because these planets make the star dim more than small planets during transit. For example, a Jupiter-sized planet makes a star dim by one part in 100, while a planet the size of Earth would only dim a star by one part in 10,000. Given these limitations, researchers estimate that Kepler misses about one in four Earth-sized planets.

And there's more news from Kepler this week: The mission has discovered 461 candidate planets. That means that they still need to be confirmed as planets, but there's a whole lot of them. In terms of potential targets for extraterrestrial life, four of these are less than twice the size of Earth and have orbits in the "habitable zone."

That's the term astronomers use to talk about the range of distance from a star in which liquid water could exist on a planet's surface.

The 461 planets come from observations that took place from May 2009 to March 2011. Researchers found an uptick in the number of smaller planet candidates and the stars that have more than one potential planet orbiting them.

Kepler's database of potential planets has increased 20% since February 2012, with a total of 2,740 planet candidates orbiting 2,036 stars.

Scientists must perform additional analyses to confirm that a planet exists. So far, from the Kepler data, there have been 105 planets confirmed.

It appears 43% of the potential planets identified by Kepler have neighbor planets, meaning many of them exist in multi-planet solar systems.

Captured A Gorgeous Saucer Shape On Saturday June 16 2012

My ET friends surprised me on Saturday. Here is how it went.

Below is the Link to the New UFO pictures I captured June 16th, 2012 over West 84th 85th Street near Central Park West in New York City. The message is from 'The Crew'.

Here is what happened.

My wife and I were working on the computer when I got a 'telepathic call' to Look out the window in the living room. (basically the usual 'tele-thought vibe and voice I get from my Space contacts since I was a child.) I immediately got up and took my binoculars to get a closer look when I spot the object. It just took a few seconds until I saw very high up in the sky a metallic looking craft. With my binoculars I could see a 'flying saucer shape'.

The spaceship started 'flashing and sending a series of bright plasma energy lights' out from the top side by the dome, until I said"I see you!" to them while watching through my binoculars. The UFO Space crew stopped the flashing at once and then I took the pictures. The UFO was hovering in one spot and when I first thought "It looks like a standard looking flying saucer!" The UFO answered me by tilting once on its' left, then once on its' right, then it tilted forward towards me so I could see the top had dome shape. The spaceship tilted back to a level position and next tilted forward and did a complete forward flip all the way around (as in a 'somersault'), where it was again facing me and horizontal and level. Next the spaceship tilted sideways and hovered in a vertical position for a few seconds and moved again to a horizontal level looking position. I had my camera and took a sequence of photo's in a row and again the spaceship did a little 'show' of tilting on it's side vertically and flipping slowly upside down and then went level again horizontally as it suddenly started transforming its' shape. I caught the image 2632 where the UFO has changed shape into what looked to me to be a diamond shape or hexagon like form. It moved towards my buildings roof and teleported away.

The Space Intelligences in the spaceships are Beings I have met and know. If you were to meet them, you would assume they are 'Ascended Masters'. By doing that it will help raise our auric energy to a higher infrared like frequency of white, light purple and blue light, where the Space Intelligences really can 'see' our energy, or auric 'energy signatures' with their spaceships and locate us in case of any dangerous Earth changes in the future.

When we can attune our thoughts to the higher Vibratory Colors and Sonic Sound frequencies (as in healing or spiritual music, tapes, songs, Tibetan Bells, Crystal Bowls, prayer, tuning forks or watching non violent movies, etc), and at the same time 'see ourselves' surrounded and protected within the Etheric energy field that surrounds the Earth.We all can be intuitively guided by our own Guardian Angels and the Space Brothers and Sisters to find safe havens and places to go in case of an emergency. We even can be guided where to go to meet them. It has happened in Earth's past history where people were guided like Lot, Moses and Joseph and Mary.

The time we are living in right now may appear different, but truly everything repeats again and again. We are at another time in history where we can see and experience special guidance from above and we are being asked to watch and listen. It is time to take the earphones out of our ears and sunglasses off our eyes and watch the skies for signs like UFO's or weather changes and guidance in our dream states.

Now we all have to take time to learn to really tune into what is happening and learn to trust our inner guidance (intuition), and listen for our personal Angels messages of love, hope and peace.

I sincerely hope the Spaceship images I have been allowed to take over the past 35 ++ years from my 'contacts', will help inspire people to open up, study metaphysical teachings, investigate spiritual books and music, learn to trust their own inner perceptions and finally trust their Angels and Spirit guides more, so they can start to lose the fear of death and the unknown. When people learn that what they see is all a reflection of themselves and that by just changing their perceptions and letting go of old or outdated belief systems that do not work for them, then the people will see a New world unfold before them. It would be a beautiful world of joy, truth, understanding, unconditional love and wisdom.
