Scientists Confirm The First Direct Photo Of An Exoplanet

The exoplanet, the dot at the upper left, is the first one to be directly photographed. Gemini Observatory See that little dot in the upper left corner? It is a planet orbiting a sun-like star. We know of a few hundred planets like this, but this one is special -- we now know it's the first one to have its picture properly taken from Earth.The adaptive optics system at the Gemini Observatory in Hawaii snapped this photo in the infrared part of the light spectrum. It shows a hot, large Jupiter-like planet near a smallish sun-like star. By contrast, our star is about 4.6 billion years old. The system is called 1RXS J160929.1-210524 (or 1RXS 1609 to its friends).It is about 85 percent of our sun's size, so planetary scientists would like to know how its planets formed, because it could offer a glimpse into what happened in our own solar system.The Gemini team believes this hot, large Jupiter is alone -- unless it has some very small companions they have not yet been able to detect. Ufo Sighting In Findlay Ohio On August 11Th 2013 Was Approached By A Glowing Amber Orb At 11Pm With Two Friends
I was with two friends, and we were at an empty Menards parking lot in my city, watching the meteor shower that was supposed to happen those few nights. We were parked facing directly east, sitting on the east side of the lot. There were no lights/objects obstructing my view at any time. We had noticed the sky was full of planes, and when we bothered to count the blinking lights, it was something like 20-30 flashing lights visible to us in east sky. After about 5 minutes in the lot, my female friend pointed out an orange-ish light to the north-east in the field beside the building. Aprox 200 yds away. It was hovering directly off the ground below some power lines, beside a sub-station. After hovering for about 30 seconds, it began moving SW towards the menards building. It slowly rose above the building, and stopped moving, a few feet above the top of the building, no more than 75 yards away from my vehicle. Me and my friends were in awe, and the next thing we knew, the objects glow grew in intensity at least tenfold, resembling the sun for roughly 5 seconds, before slowly dimming back to its original amber glow. The object sat there for 3-4 more minutes, and the amber glow spontaneously went out, and the object instantly began rising, moving towards us and up. The glow went away and was replaced by what could best be described as lights that mimic those of a traditional aircraft. 2 blinking lights on the edges of its silhouette (which I could never properly make out even when it flew over) The object flew directly over my sunroof (which I had open) aprox 75-100 yards above my vehicle. I'd say it was round if anything. The only thing that distinguished it from a plane in this form was a bottom central red light, that appeared to sparkle or pulse. Who determines what makes a creditable witness?
Selecting the right witness to believe over taking any old witness who thinks they saw a UFO is important. A commercial airline pilot who spends his life in the sky should be a credible witness, as should experienced air force pilots, astronauts, astrophysicists and the like. After all, these professionals have the advantage of a close up view of what is in the sky. These people do know what weather balloons, space debris, stealth jets, military drones, light anomalies, strange clouds and birds look like.
Highly respected men have come forward and given their eye witness testimony on UFOs being real. Wouldn't you accept NASA astronauts Gordon Cooper, Buzz Aldrich and Neil Armstrong as credible witnesses? It isn't just these three space pioneers, about a dozen astronauts have said that they have seen UFOs.
The truth is there are many credible witness who have given public statements to the press about what they have seen and where it took place. More than 100 former military officers, soldiers, pilots and other highly respected officials and scientists convened in Washington to give their testimonies at the National Press Club in 2010. Their stories relate events that took place over the past 50 years or more and yet there are "no credible witnesses."
Somewhere there is also photographic proof of UFOs and aliens. The astronauts and others talked about them at this infamous mass press conference. All such pieces of evidence have naturally disappeared, just as all records pertaining to the Roswell Incident are missing. A set of files that cover a year or more evaporated leaving a blank spot in what is otherwise fastidious record keeping over even the most mundane things.
Why wait all those years to come forward? Sworn secrecy. They have been dying to tell people about all of this for a long time, but could not until they were released from service. Is there some memorandum on the length of time your witness testimony is still true? Not all of them were totally silent over the years and gave hints whenever the opportunity arose.

The Trouble With Ufo Disclosure
The petition to the White House for UFO Disclosure filed in 2011 was doomed before the idea even started. Petitions to the U.S. government are largely a waste of time on any topic. One that involves dissolving the sworn secrecy of thousands over a span of more than 70 years? Right. You might have better luck petitioning to change the colors of the flag.
What purpose would it serve to admit that yes, UFOs and aliens are real? For one, it would reverse oodles of checks and balances. No government wants total upheaval or mayhem in the streets. That's exactly what would happen if disclosure were to happen. It would overturn religious values, the identification of mental illnesses, along with a sense of security among the masses. Panic is not desirable.
Never mind that the humble Fathers and Brothers to the Pope are long past ready to welcome the aliens and save them from sin. Pay no attention to the fact that other governments have recently disclosed their investigation records into UFOs. It means absolutely nothing that many highly regarded U.S. military heroes, astronauts, scientists, psychiatrists and astrophysicists have come forth and publicly declared that UFOs are not a fallacy.
None of these people are 'credible' according to White House officials. Aliens and UFOs are a figment of some people's wild imaginations. So, if you or anyone you know or have heard of has seen or encountered a UFO, you have some serious issues you need to address. Let's not forget that humans traveling to the moon was also once just wild imagination. Or that there are now so many levels of government in the U.S., that even the White House doesn't know what is going on. So, how would one department know what is credible, and what isn't?
Truth be known, you would be most interested in learning that UFO sightings skyrocket during times of war. Unidentified flying object sightings have become really commonplace in recent years. Not surprising. We've been at war with some country or another for the past decade. If you hadn't been given the green light to ignore all this UFO talk as rubbish, you might be aware that these alien craft can disarm nuclear weapons simply by hovering over them. Not just one war head, but the entire field of them. Not just once either. This has happened numerous times in the past and in recent times as well.
It seems that aliens are totally against the use of nuclear weapons and highly interested in our methods of fighting amongst each other. You might have heard that as far back as World War I, the UFOs have been witness flying in air force formations. But, did you know that aliens have been studying war on earth since long before we learned to fly?
Believing the announcement that there is nothing to disclose on UFOs could be bad judgment on your part. There weren't millions of gallons of crude oil spilling into the Gulf, but the coast and the air space above it were as heavily guarded as Area 51 has been since 1947. But Transocean paid 1.4 billion for their part in the destruction of the Gulf of Mexico in January of 2012.

Documented evidence indicates that a significant percentage of the incidents were inaccurately reported or embellished by later authors, and numerous official agencies have stated that the number and nature of disappearances in the region is similar to that in any other area of ocean.
Naturally, the true 'believers' will concoct some conspiracy theory or whatnot. Or say you need to 'read between the lines', or start rattling off 'facts and figures' that are demographic to that specific area without comparing to any similar areas or statistics.
The boundaries of the triangle cover the Straits of Florida, the Bahamas and the entire Caribbean island area and the Atlantic east to the Azores. The more familiar triangular boundary in most written works has as its points somewhere on the Atlantic coast of Miami, San Juan, Puerto Rico; and the mid-Atlantic island of Bermuda, with most of the accidents concentrated along the southern boundary around the Bahamas and the Florida Straits.
The area is ONE OF THE MOST HEAVILY TRAVELED SHIPPING LANES IN THE WORLD, WITH SHIPS CROSSING THROUGH IT DAILY for ports in the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands. CRUISE SHIPS ARE ALSO PLENTIFUL, AND PLEASURE CRAFT REGULARLY GO BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN FLORIDA AND THE ISLANDS. It is also a HEAVILY FLOWN ROUTE FOR COMMERCIAL AND PRIVATE AIRCRAFT heading towards Florida, the Caribbean, and South America from points north.
With that density of transport going on, of "course "there's going to be 'disappearances', or lost ships/planes. It's just numbers.
The earliest allegation of unusual disappearances in the Bermuda area appeared in a September 16, 1950 Associated Press article by E.V.W. Jones. Two years later, "Fate" magazine published "Sea Mystery At Our Back Door", a short article by George X. Sand covering the loss of several planes and ships, including the loss of Flight 19, a group of five U.S. Navy TBM Avenger bombers on a training mission. Sand's article was the first to lay out the now-familiar triangular area where the losses took place. Flight 19 alone would be covered in the April 1962 issue of "American Legion" Magazine. It was claimed that the flight leader had been heard saying "We are entering white water, nothing seems right. We don't know where we are, the water is green, no white." It was also claimed that officials at the Navy board of inquiry stated that the planes "flew off to Mars." Sand's article was the first to suggest a supernatural element to the Flight 19 incident. In the February 1964 issue of "Argosy", Vincent Gaddis's article "The Deadly Bermuda Triangle" argued that Flight 19 and other disappearances were part of a pattern of strange events in the region. The next year, Gaddis expanded this article into a book, "Invisible Horizons".
Ah, excuse me: Fate? The handbook of the delusional? And Argosy is a "boy's adventure pulp magazine", specializing in "fiction".
Others would follow with their own works, elaborating on Gaddis's ideas: John Wallace Spencer ("Limbo of the Lost", 1969, repr. 1973); Charles Berlitz ("The Bermuda Triangle", 1974); Richard Winer ("The Devil's Triangle", 1974), and many others, all keeping to some of the same supernatural elements outlined by Eckert.
All of which are out of print.
Luckily, there was someone about who actually had a critical eye:
Lawrence David Kusche, a research librarian from Arizona State University and author of "The Bermuda Triangle Mystery: Solved" (1975) argued that many claims of Gaddis and subsequent writers were often exaggerated, dubious or unverifiable. Kusche's research revealed a NUMBER OF INACCURACIES AND INCONSISTENCIES BETWEEN BERLITZ'S ACCOUNTS AND STATEMENTS FROM EYEWITNESSES, PARTICIPANTS, AND OTHERS INVOLVED IN THE INITIAL INCIDENTS. Kusche noted cases where pertinent information went unreported, such as the disappearance of round-the-world yachtsman Donald Crowhurst, which Berlitz had presented as a mystery, despite clear evidence to the contrary. Another example was the ore-carrier recounted by Berlitz as lost without trace three days out of an "Atlantic" port when it had been lost three days out of a port with the same name in the "Pacific" Ocean. Kusche also argued that a large percentage of the incidents that sparked allegations of the Triangle's mysterious influence actually occurred well outside it. Often his research was simple: he would review period newspapers of the dates of reported incidents and find reports on possibly relevant events like unusual weather, that were never mentioned in the disappearance stories.
Kusche concluded that:
* The number of ships and aircraft reported missing in the area was not significantly greater, proportionally speaking, than in any other part of the ocean.
* In an area frequented by tropical storms, the number of disappearances that did occur were, for the most part, neither disproportionate, unlikely, nor mysterious; furthermore, Berlitz and other writers would often fail to mention such storms.
* The numbers themselves had been exaggerated by sloppy research. A boat's disappearance, for example, would be reported, but its eventual (if belated) return to port may not have been.
* Some disappearances had, in fact, NEVER HAPPENED. One plane crash was said to have taken place in 1937 off Daytona Beach, Florida, in front of hundreds of witnesses; a check of the local papers revealed nothing.
* The legend of the Bermuda Triangle is a manufactured mystery, perpetuated by writers who either purposely or unknowingly made use of misconceptions, faulty reasoning, and sensationalism.
And further:
When the UK Channel 4 television program "The Bermuda Triangle" (c. 1992) was being produced by John Simmons of Gilms for the "Equinox" series, the marine insurer Lloyd's of London was asked if an unusually large number of ships had sunk in the Bermuda Triangle area. Lloyd's of London determined that large numbers of ships had not sunk there.
Yeah...none of the 'true believers' thought to ask a major insurer? What a surprise.
United States Coast Guard records confirm their conclusion. In fact, the number of supposed disappearances is relatively insignificant considering the number of ships and aircraft that pass through on a regular basis.
Do I need to repeat it? Numbers.
The Coast Guard is also officially skeptical of the Triangle, noting that they collect and publish, through their inquiries, much documentation contradicting many of the incidents written about by the Triangle authors. In one such incident involving the 1972 explosion and sinking of the tanker SS "V. A. Fogg" in the Gulf of Mexico, the Coast Guard photographed the wreck and recovered several bodies, in contrast with one Triangle author's claim that all the bodies had vanished, with the exception of the captain, who was found sitting in his cabin at his desk, clutching a coffee cup.
That one sounds vaguely familiar, probably from the days I read Fort.
The NOVA/Horizon episode "The Case of the Bermuda Triangle", aired on June 27, 1976, was highly critical, stating that "When we've gone back to the original sources or the people involved, the mystery evaporates. Science does not have to answer questions about the Triangle because those questions are not valid in the first place... Ships and planes behave in the Triangle the same way they behave everywhere else in the world."
I'm stealing that line about 'science doesn't have to answer questions', because it fits so well for so many debunkings. The following paragraph will no doubt sound familiar:
David Kusche pointed out a common problem with many of the Bermuda Triangle stories and theories: "Say I claim that a parrot has been kidnapped to teach aliens human language and I challenge you to prove that is "not" true. You can even use Einstein's Theory of Relativity if you like. There is simply no way to prove such a claim untrue. THE BURDEN OF PROOF SHOULD BE ON THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE THESE STATEMENTS, TO SHOW WHERE THEY GOT THEIR INFORMATION FROM, TO SEE IF THEIR CONCLUSIONS AND INTERPRETATIONS ARE VALID, AND IF THEY HAVE LEFT ANYTHING OUT."
And the following is Sad But True, #2:
Skeptical researchers, such as Ernest Taves and Barry Singer, have noted how mysteries and the paranormal are very popular and profitable. This has led to the production of vast amounts of material on topics such as the Bermuda Triangle. They were able to show that some of the pro-paranormal material is often misleading or inaccurate, but its producers continue to market it. Accordingly, they have claimed that THE MARKET IS BIASED IN FAVOR OF BOOKS, TV SPECIALS, AND OTHER MEDIA THAT SUPPORT THE TRIANGLE MYSTERY, AND AGAINST WELL-RESEARCHED MATERIAL IF IT ESPOUSES A SKEPTICAL VIEWPOINT.
No surprise there. SIGH.
Finally, if the Triangle is assumed to cross land, such as parts of Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, or Bermuda itself, THERE IS NO EVIDENCE FOR THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ANY LAND-BASED VEHICLES OR PERSONS. The city of Freeport, located inside the Triangle, operates a major shipyard and an airport that handles 50,000 flights annually and is visited by over a million tourists a year.
Wow. Has any of these pro-Triangle folk interviewed any inhabitants of Freeport, and checked for weird stories? I'd bet the rent on NO.
One of my all time favorites about this 'mysterious patch of ocean', is the famous 'compass gone crazy' crap:
Compass problems are one of the cited phrases in many Triangle incidents. While some have theorized that unusual local magnetic anomalies may exist in the area, such anomalies have not been shown to exist. Compasses have natural magnetic variations in relation to the magnetic poles, a fact which navigators have known for centuries. MAGNETIC (COMPASS) NORTH AND GEOGRAPHIC (TRUE) NORTH ARE ONLY EXACTLY THE SAME FOR A SMALL NUMBER OF PLACES - for example, as of 2000 in the United States only those places on a line running from Wisconsin to the Gulf of Mexico. But the public may not be as informed, and think there is something mysterious about a compass "changing" across an area as large as the Triangle, which it naturally will.
As was mentioned earlier, this is one of the heaviest travelled shipping lanes in the world. If compasses didn't work there, logic would dictate it would be one of the least travelled shipping lanes, not vice versa.
So, in conclusion: if you're planning a trip to Bermuda, it's perfectly safe, no matter what fish story you may have heard.

Unique Ufo Archive Hidden In Warehouse
This Vast Universe
The European Space Agency (when's the last time they put a man on the moon?) has released a" 9-billion pixel" photo of the "84 million star"s at the core of the Milky Way Galaxy, and it's a stunner. Gaze upon this image and wonder at all the alien civilizations that could be lurking out there...
Big, huh? Now imagine a UFO being launched from every little pin prick of light in this image and you'll see what we're up against... It's no wonder my MUFON bosses are asking me to recruit new UFO Field Investigators on Craigslist.
I'm not sure which is more mind-boggling: the 84 million stars in the picture, or the 9 billion pixels that comprise the image, or the fact that the size of the image file is 24.6 Gigabytes, or the realization that some poor, undernourished astronomy grad student freezing his ass off high on a mountaintop in Chile had to count all this stuff.
It's all so staggeringly big that I was beginning to think that my sense of scale couldn't possibly stretch any more... Then I went to the website of the European Southern Observatory to see the original image in its original size, and there, under this whacking 9 Gigapixel image, is a button that says...
