Date: December 27, 2012Time: 6:45 p.m. - 6:50 p.m.Hi, I was walking a client out of my office tonight because it was dark, almost 7:00 p.m., maybe like 6:45 p.m./6:50 p.m. and as I was waving goodbye. I looked up and saw this plane, and then behind it this object moving with a fireball trail coming from behind it. I thought OMG, is that a plane on fire? Then it started going the other direction and then looked like it was heading towards earth. I thought maybe it's a meteor or shooting star. So I was walking up the street trying to see it fall from the sky. There is a taller building that was obstructing my view and when I started to pass it, there were two less tall buildings and in the opening I saw 2 huge circular white bright object/lights hovering low in the sky. Looked very similar to the circular UFO shapes we see in movies etc., I was freaking out! Couldn't believe what I was seeing and I thought, no one is going to believe me. So I ran back to my office to grab my phone to take video. I was gone like 15/30 seconds and when I came back and they were gone.I stopped a guy on the street and said did you just see that. He said no, so I was telling him when another woman came and said you saw it too. I said yes, and then she said the same thing as me except she saw 3 not 2. Was the craziest thing I have ever seen. BTW, I was in Park BLVD and Meade in University Heights. A fiery crash of an unknown object occurred in March of that year. The site was secured by the Russian military, and one dead alien was found in the wreckage. Judge Refers To Nasas Feedback On Ufo Lawsuit A Ball Of Yarn

KECKSBURG, Pa. -- The U.S. government says nothing of note happened in this small town in the hills of southwestern Pennsylvania on Dec. 9, 1965. A meteor may have passed by, but no alien ship or Russian space probe fell to Earth.

Still, Bill Bulebush, 82, says he knows what he saw, heard and smelled, despite the doubts of the government and others in Kecksburg Other people said that dozens of Army soldiers and three members of the Air Force showed up, and later that night a flatbed military truck took the object away.

Despite such accounts, the government has been "trying to make it out like we're a bunch of liars," Bulebush said.

A lawsuit was filed in December 2003 in the District of Columbia by Leslie Kean, a freelance journalist, with financial support from the SciFi Channel under the Freedom of Information Act. NASA reported that they had no files but proof of their having had files were reported back in the 1990's.

The case boiled over on March 20 for federal Judge Emmet Sullivan, who had tried to move NASA along for more than 3 years.

According to a transcript of the hearing that day, Sullivan angrily referred to NASA's search efforts as a "ball of yarn" that never fully answers the request, adding: "I can sense the plaintiff's frustration because I'm frustrated."

A settlement, reached Oct. 17, specifies how NASA will make a new search for records. Both sides will be required to report back to Sullivan periodically, starting this week.

ESCE UFO, PRIMO LIBRO DI MOROCUTTI DEL CICAP

"Ach, tremenden, Morocutti!", avrebbero detto le Sturtruppen di Bonvi. 'E un vero pugno nello stomaco per gli extraterrestrialisti pi`u convinti il suo primo libro, "UFO", edito nella collana dei Quaderni del Cicap (per ordinarlo, www.cicap.org). Un function imperdibile, che rappresenta ci`o che dei dischi volanti pensa l'altra campana, quella scettica, e che propone tematiche ed argomentazioni logiche che certo faranno arrabbiare non pochi lettori CUN (e persino qualcuno del CISU; da sottolineare che l'autore, gi`a iscritto al CUN e poi al CISU, ha infine aderito al Cicap); argomentazioni che a ben vedere sono per`o inoppugnabili. Forse per il suo retaggio di ufologo pentito (ci si consenta questo termine), Marco Morocutti, progettista elettronico nei sistemi a microprocessore, sa dove mettere le mani e, sebbene il libro sia una raccolta di articoli di diversi autori (memorabili quelli di Margherita Cut back e di Tullio Regge, che svela inediti retroscena sulla sua celebre "risoluzione" CEE), Morocutti riesce a legarli tutti con il sottile e resistente filo della logica razionale pi`u ferrea. Per questo il volumetto, 105 pagine, si legge tutto d'un fiato, build un'indagine alla Sherlock Holmes. La ragione vi fa da padrone, in effetti, e l'autore solleva non pochi dubbi legittimi su alcune delle tematiche pi`u spinose. Da ex ufologo, l'autore sa benissimo quali nervi scoperti toccare. E si domanda: possiamo a buon titolo inserire l'ufologia fra le check scientifiche, o dobbiamo piuttosto considerarla una scienza mancata, se non addirittura una pseudoscienza? Impietosamente, l'autore commenta la dissacrante disamina del caso Roswell di Leon Jaroff e contesta le analisi del Santilli CD, mettendo bene in mostra le incongruenze di ci`o che chiama "l'operazione Roswell"; anzi, lascia la parola a Renzo Cabassi del CISU che a sua volta commenta senza piet`a: "Definire una bufala la memoirs dell'autopsia dell'alieno non `e corretto. Si tratta di un vergognoso atto illegale, una vera e propria truffa, perpetrata da individui ben identificabili e appoggiata con la complicit`a, almeno nel nostro paese, dei principali media e, vergogna delle vergogne, dalla televisione di Stato. La condanna a certo mondo ufologico che ha appoggiato, condiviso se non organizzato l'operazione `e senza appello". E sebbene queste conclusioni siano opinabili, build childlike, a nostro avviso, l'autenticit`a della pellicola sia ancora materia di discussione, ecco che Morocutti chiude subito la bocca al lettore dubbioso inserendo immediatamente dopo un altro articolo, di Andrea Zoboli, che spiega dettagliatamente (ed in maniera divertente), build costruire un pupazzo alieno da sottoporre a finta autopsia, per una cifra modica, inferiore al mezzo milione. Tutti trucchi, allora? Noi non lo crediamo, ma certo l'autore insinua il dubbio che sugli UFO la stampa ci marci. E prima ancora che il lettore coinvolto in questo viaggio nel mistero possa elucubrare, inserisce un nuovo articolo, integralmente suo, su una pacchiana bufala organizzata dalla stampa bresciana nel luglio 1997: il "marziano verde" trovato in un pollaio. Marziano che, ad un esame pi`u attento, risulta essere una razza manipolata (gi`a nel 1962 la Domenica del Corriere aveva lanciato un analogo "scoop", ma Morocutti ci svela che in realt`a `e dal 1558 che la "raja clavata" viene tagliata e piegata, per assumere forma umanoide, dai burloni di mezzo pianeta).

Giustamente si dir`a: ma questo cosa c'entra con l'ufologia? Nulla, in effetti. Ma resta il fatto che, nel caso specifico, un importantissimo quotidiano bresciano pomp`o il caso a sufficienza; decodificando, anche la stampa ha le proprie responsabilit`a quando gonfia casi a sensazione, da quelli pi`u grezzi a quelli pi`u sofisticati. Ed ecco che, leggendo, immediatamente pensiamo: ma gli UFO non sono lone questo, la gente vede veramente qualcosa nel cielo. E build se l'autore ci leggesse nella mente (in fondo, il Cicap non s'occupa forse di paranormalit`a?) ecco che parte il nuovo insert, sui fenomeni atmosferici misinterpretati: si va dalle nubi lenticolari alle luci di Hessdalen, con un ricco articolo dell'astrofisico Massimo Teodorani, sino ad un arcidocumentato pezzo di Albino Carbognani sui fulmini globulari. A quel punto nella mente del lettore UFOconvinto scatta l'estrema difesa: ma ci sono anche le tracce fisiche, quelle al suolo. E prontissimo, il nostro autore ci propone un pezzo di disamina sui cerchi nel grano, mostrando anche il finto crop realizzato a Rovigo dal Cicap (crop invero alquanto grezzo ed artigianale). A quel punto il fideista disorientato lancia un appello alla scienza. Risponde il pezzo di Tullio Regge, fisico, ma il titolo `e impietoso: Famous person Perplex, alla ricerca di balle spaziali. Esasperato, il lettore bombardato dal rigore di questi ragionamenti, si domanda allora se l'ufologia abbia un senso. Ed ancora una volta, anticipandone le mosse build uno scacchista di razza, Morocutti gli propone un dibattito (in realt`a due articoli sullo stesso tema) dello scettico James Oberg ("L'ufologia `e una scienza fallita?") e di Edoardo Russo ("Una ragione d'orgoglio"); a quest'ultimo Morocutti rimprovera per`o il fatto di "contestare gli scettici fino a non riconoscerne l'esistenza, mostrando cos`i build su certi aspetti di fede l'indagine ufologica non abbia ancora voltato pagina. Al semplice dubbio non si have possession of neppure la dignit`a di esistere: non operate, per chi vorrebbe rivoluzionare la scienza".

In effetti in questo libro gli ufologi non ci fanno una gran bella figura; e al lettore, che infine si vede crollare le sue granitiche certezze e che, in rivalsa, pensa di correre a comperare una tonnellata di libri pro-UFO per provare la bont`a delle proprie idee, l'autore, ancora una volta in anticipo sulle mosse, inserisce a conclusione una bibliografia ragionata di Andrea Baravalle. Una bibliografia alquanto atipica, per`o, dato che mette in luce anche l'animo cattivo di certi autori extraterrestrialisti: il lettore non informato scopre cos`i che lo "psicologo" Richard Boylan non lone si guarda dal critical, nel suo libro sugli IR-4, di essere convinto di essere stato rapito dagli alieni, ma sorvola anche sul fatto di essere stato radiato dall'ordine. La licenza di psicologo gli `e stata infatti ritirata non gi`a per questioni di orripilante cover up, ma perch'e "i suoi colleghi hanno ritenuto poco consono all'etica professionale, da parte di Boylan, l'entrare nella vasca da bagno in cui aveva fatto immergere (undressed) le sue pazienti 'rapite dagli E.T.', per aiutarle a superare il trauma da abduction"... Allo stesso modo viene svelato, per chi non lo sapesse, che anche la celebre studiosa di abductions Karla Turner credeva di essere stata rapita dagli alieni.

Ovviamente non condividiamo l'impostazione scettica dell'autore e dei colleghi ai quali si rif`a, presentandone gli articoli (tutti apparsi sulla rivista del Cicap "Scienza e paranormale"); riteniamo che vi siano ancora molti aspetti del caso Roswell (pi`u che del controverso Santilli CD) che debbano essere approfonditi, cos`i build non ci sembra liquidabile il fenomeno dei crops facendo ricorso unicamente a dei burloni; ma stiamo parlando di misteri, per l'appunto; resta da capire se finti o se reali. Ci`o nonostante, pur se in disaccordo con l'autore, riteniamo che il suo libro meriti ampiamente di essere letto, in quanto pu`o affinare il nostro senso critico; inoltre `e sempre enormemente utile sentire anche "l'altra campana" quando, build in questo caso, non si basa su affermazioni fumose o luoghi comuni, ma propone dati e fatti che non possono essere ignorati. E se l'autore appare scettico (quanto meno sulla matrice "esogena" del fenomeno UFO), build non dargli ragione quando scrive quanto segue? E cio`e che "gli assolutismi sono nemici di ogni onesta indagine intellettuale, e questo gli scienziati lo sanno. Per quanto possa essere controverso, il tema degli OVNI non ha di per s'e alcun motivo per sottrarsi agli strumenti della scienza, a patto per`o che si sia disposti ad accettare le conclusioni a cui il metodo scientifico consentir`a di giungere, favorevoli o sfavorevoli che siano".

Gas Variations Are Suggestive Of Seasons On Comet Chury

Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko continues to reveal more of its secrets: Researchers in Bern have detected considerable variations in the gas escaping from the comet. This could amount to seasonal changes on the tiny celestial body. Meanwhile, the camera OSIRIS on board the Rosetta comet probe is revealing new details of the surface of "Chury".

The current issue of Science magazine features a section dedicated to the latest results from the European Rosetta mission to comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The lead authors of three of the eight articles on the topic are researchers in Bern and co-authors of two others are also from Bern. "That shows how big a role the University of Bern is playing in this mission and in comet research," says Kathrin Altwegg of the Center for Space and Habitability in Bern and principal investigator in the ESA mission.

Different "summer" and "winter" atmosphere

In one of the studies, Myrtha H"assig, a former doctoral student of Altwegg now working as a postdoc at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in San Antonio, USA, is currently analysing the variations in the comet's coma, or its atmosphere as it were. "Had we simply detected a steady increase in the rate of gas escaping from the comet, there would be no issues as to its heterogeneity,>> she said. "Instead, we saw peaks in the water density and, a couple of hours later, in the carbon dioxide measurements." This variation, H"assig believes, could point towards a day-night or seasonal "summer-winter" effect. Or perhaps the comet nucleus itself is inhomogeneous. If so, that would mean its material likely originated from different regions of the early solar system and became mixed together.

"Looked at from afar through a telescope, comet comas look largely uniform, and they do not change over short periods>>, says co-author Stephen Fuselier of SwRI. "We were really surprised when we saw these variations from 200 kilometres' distance. Even more surprising was that the composition of the coma changes so drastically." There is accordingly a clear distinction between the composition of the "summer" and the "winter" atmosphere: The former is dominated by water, the latter by carbon dioxide. Since the comet nucleus is very small, at a diameter of 4 kilometres, the summer zone is only about one kilometre away from the winter zone.

Kathrin Altwegg adds: "It is unusual to see such large differences in the atmosphere over such small distances. We now have to observe how the coma evolves as it nears the sun, to determine whether the changes in the coma are a result of temperature differences alone or whether the nucleus itself is inhomogeneous."

Clear, sharp images of the surface captured by OSIRIS

Nicolas Thomas of the Physics Institute of the University of Bern is leading another paper dealing with the pictures of the comet nucleus taken by Rosetta's primary camera system OSIRIS. The Bern astronomer describes the structure of the comet as highly diverse. "Parts of the surface appear hard and exhibit fracture surfaces, while others appear to be crumbling. Other parts are covered with dust, which is being redistributed by escaping gas. It is an amazing place."

Ten Bright Strange Lights Which Looked To Have Metallic Wings Over Thompson Manitoba

Date: December 31, 2010Time: Approx: 11:30 p.m.On New Year's Eve my boyfriend and I were driving to a friend's place at about 2130 hrs. local. Suddenly I saw approximately ten bright, strange lights in the sky flying north west over the city of Thompson. The lights seem to be reflecting on some sort of metallic wings. We stopped the truck and got out to watch, they looked to be changing altitude at a very high speed. Some of them faded out of sight and others changed into what seemed to be squares shaped objects that floated in the sky. These shapes then moved in all directions, up, down, left, right finally one zoomed northwest and disappeared. I have watched air traffic over Thompson for the 20 years that I have lived here and cannot compare this event to anything I have ever seen. My boyfriend is ex-military and has nothing to compare this sighting with, we truly feel this was a real UFO sighting. I have heard other people saying they saw UFO's over Thompson and honestly thought they were a little off their rocker. "FULL DESCRIPTION OF EVENT/SIGHTING": I really haven't told anybody, only because they would think I was full of crap, but yes it true. I grew up just 13 1/2 mile just north of what was then called Hwy 214. I think now it is called RT 3338 Hwy 214 now. Well anyway it was me and my three foster sisters, we were all on the trampoline when to our surprise, we saw two glowing orange objects shooting across the sky. We really didn't know what they were, but they left a green stream of smoke behind in the lower atmosphere. My house was only about 60 to 70 miles from the New Mexico border line and I knew that Cannon Airforce Base was not too far away.

To go on, my dad happened to be watching the 6:00 o'clock news, when the weather man at the time ( Roy McCoy) was giving the weather report when Roy reported that there were two UFO's flying over Oldham County and Deafsmith Counties. Also Roy mentioned about the same thing I saw and that there was a green trail of a green smoke trailing behind them. After that he said that the Cannon Airforce Base had scrambled two fighter jets to the area, but after that it was never talked about again. So, now I am wondering what that ruckus was all about. Maybe whomever can investigate this further. I live in South Texas now. I have never said anything until now and after watching ancient aliens on the History Channel. Thanks hopefully research can be done on this.

There was no explanation until this morning about the phenomenon that was a source of concern for thousands of residents of Caracas and that was immediately associated with the controversial notion of "flying saucers, following the quick flyby of four luminous objects crossing the skies of the capital city within 15 seconds. Interpretation of the controversial event is the account that no nocturnal overflights by combat aircraft were involved, and that the Radar Operations Center at Maiquet'ia, from where the objects were also sighted, did not pick up anything on its various electronic systems.

ON AN WEST-EAST DIRECTION

Transit of the unidentified flying objects was witnessed by thousands of persons. Dozens of phone calls were received at the "2001" newsroom as from 11:30 last night, requesting information on the matter. Reporters of this newspaper, returning from an assignment in Maiquet'ia, also witnessed the flight of the luminous objects, along with other people who saw them in places as distant as Catia or Prados del Este.

Among the witnesses is a commercial airliner captain whose name is kept confidential and who provided a more nuanced version in accordance with his logical awareness of aeronautics. Our source explained that it was a formation of four luminous objects - a main one, lacking a tail, and three acting as "escorts", leaving a luminous wake as they crossed the heavens - which appeared in the southern area of Caracas at 11:30 p.m... The formation was located at an elevation of between ten to fifteen degrees over the horizon, crossing the skies over Caracas in a West-East direction at prodigious speed. The four objects vanished - to the eyes of the informant, who was located at Prados del Este - behind the hills of Petare in the La Lagunilla sector. The flying objects covered the entire distance in no more than 20 seconds at a speed far in excess of any known jet, and making no noise whatsoever.

This account was confirmed by passerby on Avenida San Martin, as well as others in the capital's downtown area and even by residents of Los Ruices.

AT MIRAFLORES AND MAQUETIA

News of the unforeseen and inexplicable appearance of the unidentified flying objects became known even in the Miraflores Palace, where President Carlos Andr'es P'erez and his Ministerial Cabinet were holding an extended session at the moment, one whose outcome was expected by dozens of journalists. The event was remarked upon, although there was no formal interpretation of the occurrence.

Possibly by official request, the Radar Operations Center at Maiquet'ia reported that the flying objects had been visually detected, but that no electronic device had recorded their transit, as would have been the case with airplanes. Finally, another minute or two and two more brightly glowing red fireballs, one behind the other and off to one side climbed into the sky as they disappeared as well into the small patch of thin clouds. I am convinced they were under their own power and moving at will. I have never seen anything else like them before. They should have emerged from the thin cloud cover as it opened back up to clear sky but they were all gone, all six of them. No sound was heard at all. The way they flew, it seemed as though they could almost stop but then move very quickly. They flew like they had somewhere to go. I believe they shot straight up but I can not say for sure. If they were some kind of jet, you would think six of them would have made some sort of sound but they moved very quietly.
