As folks in the Midwest today ponder the fireball they saw crossing the night sky, some in the Southeast have their own strange phenomena to contemplate.More UFO sightings lately have been reported in Alabama, Georgia and Florida, according to the online UFO newsletter Filer's Files, compiled by George Filer.Here's a report from Jacksonville, Ala., just north of Anniston: "I was driving home on Highway 204 at around 6:30 p.m., on March 31, when a bright flash of lightning revealed a metal object in the sky. There were no lights on the silver object. The lightning flash lasted 2 seconds. After it was dark again, I could not see the object, but I slowed down and the lightning flashed again, but this time the object was gone. I am positive about what I saw. It was cigar shaped, but it could have been a classic disk shape, with the middle being thicker than the ends.
