Tarski's theorem (which is stated more explicitly by his mathematical formulae) can be applied to the UFO problem; that is, the UFO truth cannot be determined by the UFO mystery itself.
The UFO phenomenon can only be scrutinized satisfactorily by methodologies outside the phenomenon, methodologies not directly related to the phenomenon or even tangentially connected to it.
Ufologists have been kept from arriving at the truth of what UFOs are (or are not) by attacking the enigma from inside it rather than looking at the phenomenon from outside itself.
But how does a ufologist go about studying UFOs without using UFOs for their inquiry? By inferences from other disciplines, such as mythology, religion, psychology, sociology, astronomy, physics (especially quantum mechanics), historical and anthropological exegeses, and yes, math, among others.
Tackling UFOs by anecdotal ruminations and circumstantial evidence, such as photos and videos, merely confuses the analysis of UFOs. Witness reports end up being red-herrings, and image gathering is beset by hoaxes and fraud generally.
The problem is compounded by the dire incompetence of ufologists, who've kidnapped the phenomenon, and tainted it for scientific and academic scrutiny.
(For example, one ballyhooed ufologist states in a TV UFO documentary that some sightings have "collaborated" others. He should have said "corroborated" but intelligence and wit are sorely lacking in the UFO community, so his gaffe is not atypical.)
The venerated computer scientist Jacques Vallee approaches (and has approached) the UFO phenomenon much in the way suggested here, but his reclusiveness (out of a need to avoid the insane and nasty machinations of those ufologists who have assumed ownership of the whole UFO panoply) hasn't allowed an evolution in the UFO solution.
One would think that "open-source" in UFO investigation, much as it does in software development, would endear Mr. Vallee to that methodology but, again, the madmen of ufology dissuade him, and others, from sharing insight and knowledge across the board, or in a public venue.
Nonetheless, as one mid-life critical ufologist and filmmaker suggests, the kids are alright [sic], so perhaps they will open the UFO mystery to new scrutinizes, if and when the old guard passes away, and UFOs become viable to genial dialogue and study.

The Rendlesham Incident of 1980 is by no means the earliest case of strange lights in the area. Alan Murdie and Robert Halliday have uncovered an account dating to the 1940s.
As is well known, that cause c'el`ebre of British ufology, the Rendlesham Forest UFO case, first came to public attention in early 1981. Over the years, it has grown in importance, spawning a whole series of books, articles, claims and counter-claims from sceptics and believers alike. It has drawn in military figures, politicians, the Ministry of Defence and the Pentagon. And, as with Roswell, while the stories have become more fantastic as time has gone on, critiques of the case have become increasingly detailed.
Some of the more extraordinary tales in circulation can be traced back to the local ufologist Brenda Butler, who was responsible for launching the Rendlesham story back in 1981. It was Brenda who, with Dot Street, brought the story to the attention of Jenny Randles, who contacted Flying Saucer Review. In the spring of 1981, an account was also provided to the local fortean magazine Lantern, produced by the now defunct Borderline Science Investigation Group from Lowestoft. Under the title "CIII at Woodbridge?" Lantern carried what, at this distance, is an incredibly low-key treatment of the Rendlesham incident, burying it away on page 17. 1 Brenda Butler has maintained her belief in the story through thick and thin. Like Arthur Shuttlewood at Warminster or Alex Campbell at Loch Ness, she has kept the story rolling along with interviews and broadcasts. Brenda Butler generously gives her time to guiding groups through the forests, which seem almost to have become sacred to her.
Potentially the most significant of these ancillary stories were claims that mysterious lights were seen in the Rendlesham area in the past. Stories of strange lights being seen during the Victorian era and earlier are mentioned in Georgina Bruni's You Can't Tell the People (2001). Bruni's source was Brenda Butler and, if true, these would be suggestive of at least something strange in the area - even if only anomalous lights rather than full-blown UFO phenomena. On a visit to Rendlesham Forest in September 2002 we took the opportunity to talk to Brenda Butler about the stories. Persisting in asking how she had learned of them, we eventually obtained from Brenda an admission that she could no longer remember the identity of her local sources with any precision. Regrettably, these stories have thus become hearsay, illustrating the difficulties of collecting oral testimony.
It is therefore most intriguing to come across a local report of strange light activity a few miles from Rendlesham which cannot in any way be attributed to any post-1980/81 witness account, rumour or hearsay. A search for forteana in a rare local collection, The East Anglian Miscellany, published between 1933-1943, reveals a letter from a Mr GF Fell of Orford, which reads as follows:
HOBBY LANTERNS
May I beg a space in the 'Miscellany' for a problem I have never been able to solve? Perhaps some reader can explain or enlighten me on the subject. In my boyhood days 60 years ago [i.e. c.1882] there were no cinemas or dance halls, not even a gramophone, and us boys had to find material for amusement standing at the corner of the street. Most people have heard or read stories about 'Will-o'-the-wisps': we called them Hobby Lanterns. I expect very few people have seen one, and some may think no-one else has, but this story is absolutely true. At Sudbourne there are two fields known as Workhouse Field and Kiln Field and on certain nights one of these objects could be seen on these fields. They look like a dull red light, like a lantern with the glass smoky. It moved to and fro across the field, about walking pace, always in the same track above the ground: it never went near the hedge." 2
At this point, it should be mentioned that Sudbourne is a hamlet close to what is now known as Rendlesham Forest. In an incident which mirrors the actions of American servicemen 100 years later, the boys decided to go and hunt down the light:
"One night we went out to see if we could find what it was. When we went off the road on the field it vanished, so we spread out and walked across the field and back slowly, but we could see nothing. Then as we were going off the field it suddenly appeared again: then half of us stopped on the road and the others went to have another look; they could see nothing, but from the road it was visible all the time except at intervals of a few seconds it was invisible."
Like the American servicemen from Bentwaters a century later, the boys made repeated efforts to trace the light on successive nights. Mr Fell recalled:
"We tried it several nights: the result was always the same, so we had to leave it a mystery. Now the problem is: It was visible at two or three hundred yards or more and invisible at less than one hundred yards. Why?"
Anyone familiar with the Rendlesham Forest sightings of December 1980 will notice certain parallels. Like one of the lights initially reported by the American servicemen in the Rendlesham Forest, Mr Fell's light was red and appeared and vanished intermittently, confusing observers. As with the American witnesses, it was an experience that made a lasting impression and clearly stayed with Mr Fell for many years afterwards. Although no time of year is stated for Mr Fell's experience, it is possible that the light was seen in the wintertime when it would have been dark early and there were no other games or entertainments to pursue. The light is also described as being close to the ground, which might suggest an autumn or wintertime appearance, the ground being free of crops or long grass. Aficionados of the earthlight hypothesis (they too seem to occur often in wintertime) will also recognise the comparison with a lantern. 3
The prime candidate explanaining the phenomenon, as with the 1980 Rendlesham UFO incident is, a misidentification of the Orfordness Lighthouse (see FT152:28-32). The current light is one of several to have existed at Orford over the centuries. The earliest form of lighthouse was established in the area in 1634, and there has been a light at the present site since 1792 when a structure with candles and burning coals was set up. 4 However, Sudbourne seems too far from the site for a lighthouse beam to be directly implicated as a culprit in the way it has been with the Rendlesham case. From an examination of old maps of the area we discovered that Kiln Field and Workhouse field are quite widely separated within the parish itself, so the mysterious red light was able to cover a considerable distance in Sudbourne. It is conceivable that a strange atmospheric effect might have distorted beams from the lighthouse, but how did the light appear to move "at walking pace" on two fields separated by some distance?
Interestingly, to the east of Sudbourne lies an area known suggestively as "the Lantern Marshes". The name is certainly an old one, apparently predating the establishment of any lighthouse or beacon, and a check of the records reveals a map carrying the name "Lanterne Marsh" dating from 1600.5 Strange lights were frequently referred to as "Lantern Men", "Jack O' Lanterns" and "Hobby Lanterns" (the term used by Mr Fell) in Suffolk dialect. However, it would be wrong to read too much into the place name in the absence of other evidence.
More pertinently, it may be noted that strange red lights are not the only oddities to have been seen in the neighbourhood. A green meteor was reported moving in the direction of Orford in the autumn of 1999, stimulating correspondence in the local press; 6 forteans and ufologists may note how writers from Charles Fort to John Keel have made much of strange meteors, and green ones were also a concern in the early days of the modern UFO phenomena in the USA. 7
Regrettably, Mr Fell never received any answer or explanation for his appeal, at least not through the pages of the East Anglian Miscellany. However, we hope its reprinting here will be of comfort to any surviving readers of the Miscellany or descendants of Mr Fell insofar as his plea did not go entirely unnoticed.
In the meantime, the discovery of this old account arguably poses a problem. It is a strange coincidence - if nothing else - that witnesses in the 1880s had successive sightings of strange red lights not far from the site of one of the major British UFO incidents of the second half of the 20th century. Indeed, it will be interesting to see what sceptics of anomalous light phenomena at Rendlesham will make of Mr Fell's account, which obviously pre-dates any notions of UFOs, particularly just when the Rendlesham story seemed to be at the point of final exorcism. Indeed, for those who have pronounced the case "solved", Mr Fell's statement may bring to mind a remark by the philosopher Professor CD Broad. Considering claims that the presence of infra-red equipment in s'eance rooms frustrated spiritualist manifestations, he remarked: "It may or may not be a significant fact but it is certainly an unfortunate one". 8

New Interactive Map Of Milky Way Lets You See The Light And Dust

Information from the Planck space telescope helped create a stunning new map. It's also shedding light on dark matter and the origins of the universe.
From 2009 to late 2013, the European Space Agency's Planck spacecraft revolved around our planet while using its telescope to soak up relic radiation from the Big Bang known as the Cosmic Microwave Background, or CMB. Its goal, in effect, was to look back in time to just about 370,000 years after the Big Bang.
Now NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL), which worked closely with the ESA on the Planck mission, has released a captivating interactive map of the Milky Way using Planck's data. It combines multiple views of our galaxy, including mapping dust, carbon monoxide gas, magnetic fields and a type of radiation known as "free-free." This kind of radiation happens when "isolated electrons and protons careen past one another in a series of near collisions, slowing down but continuing on their own way," according to the JPL.

ESA/NASA/JPL-Caltech "The cosmic microwave background light is a traveler from far away and long ago," Charles Lawrence, the US project scientist for the mission at NASA's JPL, said in a statement. "When it arrives, it tells us about the whole history of our universe."
To study the CMB, Planck team members needed to remove the light from our galaxy, much of which is the same wavelength as the relic radiation. The team then used that removed light to create the new map. "Light generated from within our galaxy, the same light subtracted from the ancient signal, comes to life gloriously in the new image," the JPL says. "Gas, dust and magnetic field lines make up a frenzy of activity that shapes how stars form."
Not only was the space agency able to create the map thanks to the Planck mission, but by analyzing data sent back from the mission the team also discovered a few other things.
First, it was once believed that the Dark Ages of our universe -- a time before stars began winking into existence -- lasted for 300 million to 400 million years after the Big Bang. Looking at the Planck data, however, researchers now believe that the period of darkness lasted for about 550 million years.
Even more compelling was a revelation about dark energy, an as-yet-unproven force that scientists believe is responsible for the accelerating speed of the universe's expansion. "The Planck data also support the idea that the mysterious force known as dark energy is acting against gravity to push our universe apart at ever-increasing speeds," the JPL said.
The Planck team will continue analyzing the data, and it's expected that more insights about the origin and nature of our universe will be published next year. "The kind of questions we ask now we never would have thought possible to even ask decades ago, long before Planck," said James Bartlett, a US Planck team member from JPL.

Even though some of the case-reports might only take up half-a-page or slightly more, it's the sheer scale of encounters, and the spanning of numerous decades, that impressed me - as well as the deep similarities and trends present in certain reports, also spanning many years and varied locales.
"GRASSROOTS UFOS "also highlights some tantalizing and intriguing stories that, to this reviewer anyway, are "highly" suggestive of much more. The debris field has become larger and more elaborate over time. In his July 9th, 1947 interview, William "Mac" Brazel describes the field as being about 200 yards (180 meters) in diameter. In 1991, the field is only 70-100 (60-90) yards wide but 3/4 of a mile (1.2 kilometers) long. By 2002, the field is 300 yards (270 meters) wide and still 3/4 of a mile long. In 1991, the debris field also features a gouge and a burned and vitrified circle. Apparently, the craft crashed or crash landed, and took off again before either blowing up or crashing somewhere else. The gouge is roughly 130-160 (120-145 meters) yards in length. It was this gouge that the archaeological investigation sought in 2002 using remote sensing techniques and excavation. The description of the Roswell Incident offered by the IUFOMRC website in 2002 includes a shallow trench or gouge, several hundred feet in length. A similar kind of linear field or gouge is described by a National Guard pilot in 1950 for the site of a saucer crash two years earlier in Ohio.' The following figure is a scale representation of the three descriptions of the debris field and gouge.
Crash sites aren't as well described as the Corona debris field. In the earliest accounts, a saucer crashed "in a mesa" in 1949 (Clark 1998:119-141), or gently glided to earth in 1950 (Scully 1950). The description of a saucer wedged up against the side of an arroyo is only described in a small number of Roswell accounts (Corso 1997; Randle and Schmitt 1991), but it is one of the most important images of the Roswell incident (as seen in the centepiece mural of the IUFOMRC, below), and ranks only second in iconography in Roswell itself behind images of aliens.
Though the shape of the saucer can change, this image is repeated again and again on restaurant and hotel marquees, in models and dioramas, paintings and murals. The abstract design of the future International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell appears to be inspired by the crashed saucer symbol. Like a religious icon, it can be boiled down to a single element and still be recognized. Any business wishing to attract UFO-related costumers in Roswell need only create a thee dimensional representation of a saucer, and place it in contact with the roof or wall of their building, canted at something approximating a 45 degree angle, and that communicates the message.
The only other equally or more reducibly simple icons in UFOlore that I have encountered are the image of the saucer itself in profile or in 3/4 view, and the slanted almond-shaped eyes of a Gray alien (see above).
Debris
Debris is at the heart of any crashed saucer story. A UFO that can crash is a physical thing, and a fallible thing at that. In many ways, the fascination with the Roswell Incident amongst ufologists in the 1980s and 1990s was a rebuke of other schools of thought within the field that proposed UFOs to be psychic phenomenon, social hallucinations, or other equally immaterial and inaccessible creatures. In these stories, UFOs are mechanical objects that can malfunction and be destroyed, meaning that their creators are like us, fallible beings that rely on machines for transport and survival. In fact, the death of alien beings in such a crash is a sorrowful thing, it can be related to human tragedy, and is in several actions and accounts of crashes.

Early reports of the Roswell material in the late 1970s describe how the metal cannot be broken or bent or burnt, though by the early 1990s, the metal (especially foil) can bend, but immediately returns to its original form, and is compared to shape memory alloy or "memory metal" invented in the 1960s. Strips and beams, of metal or wood, have also been found in crash debris since 1950. These strips or beams have been covered with symbols, engravings, or even alien hieroglyphic writing since 1979, though Frank Scully's 1950 saucer crashes produced booklets with written script. According to Jesse Marcel, Jr., the writing was purple. Several renderings of these symbols have been made, and the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell has a replica of a symbol-laden I-beam (see the above image). Though written books are not found in crash debris after 1950, paper or parchment-like material is described in a few accounts of the Roswell crash, including Whitley Strieber's (1989) fictionalized version of the crash in "Majestic". By far the Roswell crash is the best well described UFO crash when it comes to debris, again perhaps because debris is central to the original July 8, 1947 media accounts.
The Craft
Crashed airships, saucers, and UFOs typically measure about 30-40 feet in diameter, but have generally gotten slightly smaller over the years. These are a few photos viewed from my backyard at around 6:30pm. My wife and I both witnessed around 9 UFO,s over a 5 min period then they just decided they had finished whatever it was they were doing, and as quickly as they appeared they disappeared! They were moving in all directions, stopping and then continuing in opposite directions. Absolutely no sounds heard. Then they would light up from red, then change to white in no real pattern. You have to realize how far away these are. I was watching the sky and noticed two of them go in front of the daytime moon, then my wife came out. I yelled at her to grab the camera and tripod so she did. And to notice them in broad daylight because of the lights on them, they must have been very bright. If you look under all of them it looks like some kind of exhaust or propulsion coming from them. My wife was a skeptic but I can truly say she isn't anymore. The last photo is the vessel shape. You need to know that they appeared as a bright little star to the naked eye then when they all appeared they were flashing bright red and white colors and moving up down and sideways with very sharp and decisive moves. The fourth photo was taken with my cannon 300x zoom then computer zoomed 1000x's more. You see these objects were about 22miles straight up....

Have You Had An Encounter
Karren had experienced an Alien encounter sometime in her life, and according to her it is a heavy burden to carry around. Think about it, if you legitimately thought that you were abducted or witnessed a UFO people would label you as insane. Who knows, maybe your mom, dad, or best friend have had a close encounter and they are just too afraid to speak up.
Moving along, Karren had a dream to establish an organization where those who have seen the mysterious can get together and share their stories. Well, she followed her dream and now people can do just that at the "Byron UFO Research Group"! You may not think that this is useful info to you now, but I'm sure several readers have had an encounter, or one day will, and this will let them know that there is a safe environment to express themselves. I for one applaud Ms. Carruthers for her initiative, and hope to one day shake her hand.
